I would save my money on full length studs. Build
Ends same height as side walls then build a wall on top of that to match trusses. The top plate on the wall will stiffen the wall much more than full length studs. And should be considerably cheaper.
If I could draw a picture and post it ,it would help explain. But since I only use my phone for internet that's not possible.
Seems like for 18' headers I would go with a glue lam beam. May cost a bit more but you could probably get away with a much smaller beam.

Why does it have to be a glulam, or even a large header in a gable end?

I'm with you on the gable end. I think it only needs to be rigid enough to not sag under it's own weight. I like the idea above of making it a normal wall with a plate on top and building an end wall above it for the gable. Seems like that would be relatively easy.

That would be pretty similar to just making the wall and building an end truss in place. And that may be something I end up doing. Was just thinking that full length 2x6's from foundation to top of wall would stiffen things up a bit. Similar to full length posts on the gables when doing post-frame.

A "triangle" wall sitting on top of the 12' wall doesnt seem as if it would be as stiff laterally. Its not the compressive load I am worried about. Anything mentions so far should handle that just fine. But what is the strongest laterally. IE: keeing the trusses vertical and not topling over like dominoes while in the process of building

I was taught to put headers over every door, regardless of load. Helps to make the opening more rigid. But I'll admit I was taught this building houses not barns. Also gives a good solid attachment for door tracks

I created a box header, with 2x10's inside and outside, and 2x6's top and bottom.

I will probably do a similar box header. Not so much for vertical strength, but horizontal strength for door hardware.
