Dump trailer storage

Hey Folks,
Any suggestions on how to store a dump trailer during the long winter months in a sub-zero climate....like the northeastern US? I'd like to keep the cylinder shafts in the closed position (bed down) but also like to keep snow and future rain and snow melt from sitting on the floor bed. Is it fine to leave the cylinder shaft exposed to the elements during storage thru the winter?

Yes, but if you have to leave it outside block up the dump with some wood and remove the weight off the hydraulic system. Then lather the exposed cylinder shafts with grease after cleaning.

But if you can't get it in a barn another option is to build a roof for the trailer out of a long 5" Dia tree laying from front to back and a tarp with pitch off each side.

I leave mine down, jacked up slightly off level with the tongue jack. I've never noticed any issues. The snow stays in until it's needed and then shovel out. I pull my battery though.

Mine is stored outside with bed raised then lowered back on to the support that is incorporated into the frame of the trailer , thus it takes the pressure of the entire system . Never have lubed any shaft on any cylinder be it the trailer , tractor or even my splitter . Tractor has been outside since purchase in 2003 and still as shiny as the day it was purchased with no pitting or any corrosion of any kind .
