If I want to leave it blank I will
A friend of mine picked this up yesterday and he was asking me if I knew anything about it. I don't, but thought maybe somebody here might.

It is in operating condition, but needs belts and maybe blades. Anyone know where to get the 'T' blades, we've been looking online and can't fine them. The ones on there are 7/16" thick and almost 8" long.

It is a factory made mower, but the stickers are unreadable, it also has a stamped number of some sort, but nothing else on the tag can be made out.

He's planning an overhaul, fresh paint and new guards, and of course tires. Bearings seem good and well greased.

I attached a couple of pictures he sent me, but I can get more next time I visit his yard where the mower is now.

Thanks in advance, we're both curious, and I'll be helping him get this fixed up.

It looks like a tag right behind the gear box. Maybe you can get some info off of it.
Possibly a Befco or a Mott.

Yes, it has three numbers on it: 54 16 6475, and a stamped border, but is unreadable otherwise.

I found a picture of a Bradly mower that had a similar set up as far as dual shaft drive out of the gearbox, but on a much wider mower. This mower cuts 6'6" wide.

I'll search for more info. on Befco and Mott mowers and see if something matches.

Being red I was thinking Woods has dual shaft, Case, Massey, International, Farmall etc.

Looks more like a corn stock chopper than a flail mower. Not my first time wrong.

In my searches I've found three pictures of Lundell crop choppers that have the same gearbox and roller chain driveshaft joint. But the only rotor and blade picture I've found was far different.

They seem to have come in green and red.

We are seeing if we can get the name off the original label using some forensic techniques, that sound like voodoo to me, but if they work I'll happily say I thought they would. lol

Do the knives look like any of these.
Cup & Scoop Knifes

Lundell is still in business, just a different line now. A member on another site says he bought replacement knives from them a few years ago. It's worth a call to see if parts are available.

Here is a closer picture than I had in the OP, it shows they are very much a 'T' shape.

Almost looks like sickle sections welded onto bar stock.

If you can get new knives/hammer knives you should be sitting pretty after you change the
gearbox oil and grease the bearings-no more than 6 pumps in the rotor bearings-the part
the knives hang on and 3-5 pumps in the other bearings every 8 hours of operation.

When you buy it I will welcome you as the newest member of the Flail Mower Nation.

These blades are 7 3/16 long and 3/16 thick. You could run two on each hanger (total of 3/8 inch thickness and two blades is normal for this type blade) and I think it would work out. I haven't found a "T" type blade like are on the machine now.

Hmm, wonder what size your mounting holes are.

My friend bought it, I'll pass along your welcome and advice. He's pretty good with machines so I believe it is in good hands.

Those might work. Right now it has 1/2" grade 8 bolts with a 1/4" bushing around it and holes in the blades are 1"

We are thinking somebody might have made these blades, the mounting tabs are 7/8" apart and there are no washers on the sides to keep them centered. It would be nice to find some pictures of other units made by Lundell, but so far no luck in finding any.

Just a quick progress update.

Bolts to hold the blades turned out to be 9/16" once we got them out and measured properly. All new bolts were ordered, grade 8, with lock nuts and washers.

New blades have been ordered, ended up going with sideslicers that match the size very well from cleancutter. Old 'T' blades are going away.

I'm supposed to go over this weekend to work on it, getting it ready for all the parts coming in next week.
