Water For Fuel??????????

There is no doubt in my mind what the gentleman saw in the truck was an crude hydrogen generator. Sure it can make a little. Not near enough to run the truck 60 miles an hour down the road with a load. Why do people think that electricity made by an alternator is free and limitless?

Oh, it just takes a little to generate hundreds of cubic feet of gas at STP (Standard Temprature and Pressure) right? Yeah right. That is why real hydrogen cars have very high pressure tanks to carry enough highly compressed gas to power them some distance. Yep a few bubbles in a few jars and you are "good to go".. Uh huh.!

To be honest with all of you, I am appalled by the lack of understanding of basic scientific principals today. It truly is a failure of our school systems. Even though I attended a very small rural school disctrict many years ago, I learned some basic science, and match. I also learned to type. I am sure much to the chagrin of some!:D

I did not too well in English class though.

Now IF it were possible , consider the ramifications , oil prices would tank , the oil producing nations would have nothing , gas stations and the real estate they sit on would be worth much less . Governments would lose tax revenue LOTS of it . Loss of jobs in the oil industry would be severe . Corn prices would fall no more need for ethanol . And I this is probably just the tip of the iceberg

IF it were possible, I would be out there right now scrounging up the parts for one.!

For those of you who are still awake, I'd like to point out that the Chevy Volt was originally intended to be supplemented by a hydrogen powered direct convert fuel cell to extend the range. In a similar twist, (just like what happened to the GM EV-1) certain states (one comes to mind that begins with a "C") promised/commited to have quite a few hydrogen fueling stations in place by start of Volt production (SOP in automotive vernacular). But guess what ?

Same with the EV-1 (the all electric demo ride) . The same "C" state promised to having electric Quik-Charge stations scattered around the state. Anybody wanna guess how that ended up ?

I'm trying to remember the internal project name for the hydrogen Volt deal. BMW and GM did a joint venture together on that deal. I worked on the chassis side of things back then. A last minute panic set in when the pony motor range extender had to be implemented. The vehicle was originally an all wheel drive 'platform' that would have entertained a pickup box version, too. Instead its a Malibu with a golf cart powertrain, a BIG battery case, and a lawn tractor engine.

...I am appalled by the lack of understanding of basic scientific principals today...
Agreed...A good majority of people can't explain why an airplane is able to fly...or even understand what makes water boil when heated...but in the same respect if a person has never been exposed or educated beyond k-12 academics etc...there is a lot of things they have misconceptions about...just one example is rail locomotives...a lot of people don't realize that diesel powered locomotives are actually powered/driven by electricity that is generated by diesel...there are many other examples of things that people see every day that they don't really the basics of how they work...

my formal education is in civil engineering and architecture...but I wish I would have taken some expanded courses in physics and chemistry etc...I love trying to see/comprehend the "bigger picture" to all things...

Water (H2O) is a compound...( I have not researched the subject, just curious from the comments in this thread)...where, when and how is water created from it's elements? what type of process takes place?

I have heard that the Earth's water most likely came from something like a comet etc...but even if it was in a solid state when was the compound created?

Quit hoping for a fantasy and stick with reality . If any of these carnival side show energy schemes worked. The military and aerospace would have been all over the tech decades ago.
