Kubota B3350 tractor regeneration problems

Hey guys, this is my first post here, and unfortunately not a good one.

Short story is I just purchased a B3350 and when it got to 11 hours or so, it began it's first auto-regeneration (this evening). Except it didn't. The light came on for 20 minutes or so, and then the red indicator light came on and stayed on. It skipped the other 4 steps that the manual says should happen if regen doesn't occur. I turned the tractor off and tried it again, and same thing - the light stayed on for awhile and then the tractor shut off. It seems the regeneration has failed and has not gone through the steps the manual indicates.

I researched for a long time before purchasing this tractor (my first), including product manuals, google, youtube, talking to multiple owners and dealers, and even browsing on here. I NEVER heard a word about B3350 regeneration issues, nor did the dealer mention it. Please tell me there is something to be done about this.

Other than call the dealer, what needs to be done? Messick, since you are in the business what IS being done about it, and what should a brand new owner do when the first regeneration fails on a brand new tractor?

As noted in my earlier message, I had significant issues with a new B3350. After 4 regeneration failures within 9 months and approximately 30 days of this at the dealer for repair, I concluded that for my purposes this tractor was a lemon with no permanent fix in sight. The dealer could offer no encouragement, but was willing to continue his efforts at repair. I could not accept this. Let me back up here and say that I have no complaints with the dealer. He did everything he could with a faulty product. After hearing of my dissatisfaction,I believe he contacted the Kubota people. Apparently they agreed that since there was no fix in sight for my B3350, they would offer me a new B2650 with a partial credit to make up the difference in price. I did after all get some use out of the B3350. I did accept this, and so far am pleased with the performance of the B2650. I have used it with the snowblower a couple of times.

Let me add a couple of observations. They did not offer to replace my B3350 with another B3350, and I probably would not have accepted it in any event with the knowledge of my own experience. Confidence and reliability are big deals in my world, and I lost confidence in this product. Also, Maine has very strong consumer protection laws that I believe would have covered me with this product. I kept this in my back pocket in case I needed to use it, which I did not. I probably could have demanded a full refund, but I wanted a tractor. Let me reiterate. The dealer, his service and transportation people were all excellent. They did the best for me that they could, and I'm sure they were nearly as frustrated with this B3350 as I was.. The B2650 is supposedly a less powerful tractor, but I have not yet noticed any difference. I'll let you know in the future if I do.

Thanks for updating liteship. My tractor is 4 weeks old with about 12 hours on it. I just now got all of the implements and bushings worked out for my quick hitch, and the first regeneration failed. So I am at the very beginning of the process, and I REALLY hope I don't have to experience everything you did to achieve a resolution. I just called the dealer this morning, and he finished my sentence when I was telling him what happened. He said they had another one in the shop right now to update the computer and install a thermostat.

There was NO mention of this during the purchasing process, and we discussed the Tier IV DPF as well as Tier III. I was deciding between the B3350 and the L3301, which were the same price. I decided to go with the smaller package, as it would suit my needs better, but I wish they had mentioned this. The dealer said, "This is Kubota's problem, not your problem." Except it is my problem now, because my tractor is dead in my front field at the moment. He said Kubota would take care of it, but we would have to jump through all of their hoops. Very disappointing to drop $30k at a dealer, and 4 weeks later I can't use my tractor.

I wonder if there are aftermarket "solutions" to these issues? For every make of an emission controlled diesel pick up, you can buy an "off road" delete kit. Not only you get better power, but you get 30% improvement in fuel economy. Of course, these kits are meant for off road use only..., aren't tractors off road by design?

The problem is that the aftermarket for tractors is much slower because the number of tractors built is a fraction of the number of cars. Mahindra the largest tractor manufacturer builds about 150,000 tractors a year, whereas Toyota the largest auto manufacturer builds about 8 million cars a year. With this being only the second year for Tier 4, I would expect it to take a couple more years for the aftermarket to produce any "deletes" for CUT's.

Candidly, I prefer some domestic involvement in what I purchase and Mahindra has none. If I want an Indian machine, I'll buy a camel.

It's clear you have an unfounded, uninformed bias against Mahindra. You'd probably be happier with a camel...although they do produce a lot of pollution too.
