Thanks for answering my questions on the tree puller and what it cost to build. Like the idea on torching the cutter plate last. May have to start rounding up parts to make my own. Looks like 4x6 tubing for the back and 4x4 for the arms.

The back does not have to be 4x6. That's just what I had. 4x4 would work fine. Could probably get by with 4x2. But I tend to build heavy and build once.

That puller you built is a nice piece of machinery, but will not work for my applications. All my stumps are cut too low to the ground to even get a puller on.

Yeah, that's a bummer. I've got a small patch of stumps that way. Friend of mine built a puller patterned after mine. He built wedge shaped ends on the arms. Says he can jam it in the ground around larger trees, cutting the outer roots, before he tries to pull it. Claims to pull 10-12" trees although I've not witnessed that.

Also, in soft ground I can get my jaws 4-6" under the ground at the tips. That attack might work on your flush cut stumps?

No, they are all in the 10" plus range...most average 12" to 14". Too big to get some thing like a puller around.

Oh yeah, I gotcha. Backhoe or dozer time.

My neighbor just bought a small dozer and is looking for work. I told him to bring it over this Spring and have at my stump patch.

You've definitely got yourself a chore coming up. Nothing I envy, I've got a 12 acre parcel where the best answer was clean and burn the slash, run the bushhog over then planted hay.

You've definitely got yourself a chore coming up. Nothing I envy, I've got a 12 acre parcel where the best answer was clean and burn the slash, run the bushhog over then planted hay.

Don't waste your time with a stump bucket on your tractor, by the time your half way thru with 12" hardwood stumps your loader will be junk.
