I'm looking to get one of the French door Samsung wwith French doors on the bottom freezer as well. Lower righthand section can be a freezer or fridge area. Have a chest freezer to make up for the lost else's and kids fridge stuff can go in the lower part for easy access.

Thanks for all of the replies. The only negative I see is here is regarding the water dispenser and ice maker. We won't be using those features so that isn't an issue for me. I think we will be going with a freezer on the bottom unit soon. Our current fridge is a smaller one bought in 2000 and with a growing family we need a bigger fridge.
Of course from what I see the freezer on the bottom units cost almost twice as much as the traditional freezer on top units.

We recently re-did our kitchen and went with a bottom drawer freezer. We like it. We also really like the small drawer above the freezer for refrigerated items. Saves from dumping all the cold air. Ours has ice and water in the door. The capacity of the ice maker is not that great. We often run out of ice when we have company. We did see one model when shopping that had dual ice makers.
One item I noticed on some bottom freezer models was the freezer had only baskets in the drawer with no bottom. It looked to me that a lot of cold air would instantly spill into the room as the drawer opened. Might be difficult to get to spills to clean up.
We don't use the water dispenser much for drinking, but ours measures the water dispensed in ounces. Kinda handy when cooking some Hamburger Helper or such.

We will not consider any fridge besides a bottom freezer unit. Four out of five of us in the house are 6ft plus. The bottom freezer eliminates finding abandoned left overs on the bottom two shelves.

We bought a new bottom Freezer Samsung with fridge on top. Also has a short middle pull out drawer for drinks as well as ice and water in the door. It is also WIFI enabled and has a touch screen on the door. Only complaint is the ice maker isn't big enough for summer time. But I just buy a bag of ice every now and then.

Yeah, we paid like 900 for our good size side by side 10 years ago. A similar spec'd bottom freezer one is double that.
It is also WIFI enabled and has a touch screen on the door.
WIFI? For what?
Who uses that much ice ?
We fill bags for coolers with ice from our freezer. Need some for your drink, open the bag and grab some. Ours has a decent size ice container but we still need to plan ahead for BBQ's. I don't like the taste of chlorinated ice.

The side by side GE refrigerator plant used to be a major employer here. It's withering and they will be selling it to Electrolux. GE says everyone wants the freezer on the bottom, which they make in Louisville.

We switched from a top freezer (old house) to a side-by-side (came with new house) to a bottom freezer (quick replacement at new house). Everyone knows what a top freezer is like. Can't see into the fridge and have to stoop many times a day to get what you want.
Side by side was just horrid. Totally stupid design.
Bottom freezer is very nice. Bend down once a day to get a frozen thing for lunch, the rest of the day everything is right at an easy height. Since I have a back injury, that's even more important for me.

For cooler ice, we fill half gallon plastic milk cartoons with water and freeze them in our chest freezer. It's not ice cubes or chips, but it works for keeping things cold and dry. It's good for the chest freezer to always have a decent amount of material in it anyways and our food load varies quite a bit.
