What do you do with your FEL Tooth Bar?

Is it necessary to remove your old cutting edge to install the tooth bar or does the the tooth bar fit over the cutting edge?

Mine fits over the cutting edge. I bought mine through the kubota dealer and it came attached - bolted on - with the new tractor. The only time I take mine off is for the ratchet rake and if I'm doing a lot of road work and need to back drag the bucket a lot. Now that I have a grapple I don't use the ratchet rake but I still use the tooth bar for digging.

DocDryden, If you want the Piranha TB, I'd check with Harry first (BX-Expanded). The thickness of your bucket edge might be an issue. I leave my Piranha bar on the FEL all the time, for snow, dirt, gravel, digging etc. It works fine for back dragging as well.

The only thing a tooth-bar doesn't do well is back blade with the bucket edge.Mine stays on all the time.A must have if you are digging with the bucket.

And if you want the Piranha I'm pretty sure Harry can make it for any thickness. Another thing is to pay attention to how far back any side reinforcement

is on your tooth bar. Harry wrote he can usully move the hole far enough back so you don't have to worry about it.

Looking at the holes on the side of your bucket you should be able to find one to fit over the edge.

Yes, I would like to keep the bolt on edge..

We build the Piranha with special components to clear the additional edge. Just make sure we know it's there. If you order online you can add a note in the comments section.

To back drag with the bucket, you use the rear of the bucket instead.


Never had a reason to take my tooth bar off.

I had a tooth bar, but I didn't like it. I can spread dirt better without one. I use the backhoe to break up hard dirt. I took the tooth bar off, and I lost it in the woods. I also have a grapple to rip up roots and rocks.
