Sounds like you had a bit of a scare there. After a run away like that a few of us would have skid marks on more than just the grass.
When I went tractor shopping last year, I was surprised at how difficult it was to tell at a glance on some models if they were in 2 wheel or 4 wheel.
Shaken, yes, but not stirred. It seems I needed a refresher on making sure that little lever down my my left foot is DOWN before trekking off level. There's probably an icon on the LCD "instrument" panel, but that doesn't get much attention when I'm actually driving the thing, and even when I do look at it, they're all tiny and tend to blur into one confusing mess.
The first time that happened I'll have to admit to almost skid marks on more than the grass, but then it was caused by a stripped coupling linking the impeller shaft to the front wheels. Yet another failure in an under engineered Kubota part. :muttering:
