Sounds like you had a bit of a scare there. After a run away like that a few of us would have skid marks on more than just the grass. :)

When I went tractor shopping last year, I was surprised at how difficult it was to tell at a glance on some models if they were in 2 wheel or 4 wheel.

Shaken, yes, but not stirred. It seems I needed a refresher on making sure that little lever down my my left foot is DOWN before trekking off level. There's probably an icon on the LCD "instrument" panel, but that doesn't get much attention when I'm actually driving the thing, and even when I do look at it, they're all tiny and tend to blur into one confusing mess.

The first time that happened I'll have to admit to almost skid marks on more than the grass, but then it was caused by a stripped coupling linking the impeller shaft to the front wheels. Yet another failure in an under engineered Kubota part. :muttering:

no land deals, just have been too busy to get over to see him.
Plus I need to go buy a bottle of booze and I keep forgetting.

have been watching the videos and news about the helicopter landing right on the Capitol lawn.
That will keep the news headlines buzzing for awhile. He pulled it off and didn't hurt anyone.
Peaceful protest.
guy is going to be locked up for sure.
More opportunities to have his say/day in court.
and then he will very likely go to jail for longer than he thinks.
no politics here, just interesting news

what's next, a drone fly in fest, thousands of drones converging on the White House?
scary actually.

535 drones converge on the Capital every week. :)

Got some stones raked back into the driveway today. Nice sunny day here with just a bit of chill in the breeze. Put a coat of urethane on some trim boards. Nailed up a couple trim boards.

Visited a relative in the hospital today, spent much of the day there, then stopped to pick up takeout. Long day tomorrow. Have a good one!

Good morning! A cold 51˚ but climbing to the 70 with lots of sun.

Eric - The Prickly Pear Cactus will be blooming in a few weeks - stand-by for pretty flower pictures.

KevT was sooo close. We have 2 type of nettles 1. a stinging nettle which has tiny purple flowers and no seeds and
#2 the big bad one Cnidoscolus Texannus or Bull Nettle.

About three miles down the road I saw a sign posted on some property that said:
WARNING CNIDOSCOLUS TEXANNUS INFESTATION KEEP OUT

I will try to gather the seed pods again this year and let you know what they taste like. I have no picture of the seed but Here is one I found. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6087/6068297026_4977a33500.jpg

Here are the pictures of my painful flowering Bull Nettle on the hill. If you touch it with your ankle it feels like a hundred fire ants bitting you and the skin will whelp up and be very red. It has a long tap root so cutting it does not kill it and it is the last to die in a drought.

Definite candidate for Round up.

Good Morning. Some parts of the UK around London are having record breaking high temperatures for springtime. Nothing like that here, we catch more of the Atlantic wind and had the wood burner on again last night to keep the chill away.

I have been promised a few first early and second early seed potatoes from Mr Weaver. They are being passed on by a friend who is helping to clean out Mr Weavers farm. Mr Weaver died last winter. I only got to meet him these last few years. He was then in his 80's and still doing contract baling for selected customers. He really was a grand old gentlemen, always with a smile and a kind word despite life not being very kind to him or his family. I hadn't planned on growing potatoes this year as our "garden" area is still very much in the construction phase, however coming from Mr Weaver makes them special, so I will have to find space somewhere.

28F. Mid 60's and sunny today.

I think today will be a repeat of yesterday, urethane and driveway stone raking.

Eric, Did Mr Weaver maintain heritage varieties?
