Brandi- With all the rain we've had this summer it will be a banner year for mosquitoes. We've already got tons and every time it rains even a little we have water standing and puddles. I'm not looking forward to this part of summer. Charlie
I've been waiting on the grasshoppers, to be truthful, I've seen very little bug activity so far this year, and not one grasshopper. Hoppers have all but overrun gardens in my area over last few years. HS

Right now we're having quite a few June Bugs, but not in numbers as large as some years.

Charlie

I got water standing behind the dam and in the gully. I need to get those places to drain out better. I have mosquito fish in the ponds. They help real nice, but the mosquitoes are still hiding back in the brush and heavy trees. Gonna do some more clearing of trees in the dead of the summer.

Is the drought over? I mowed the yard 5 days ago, it's currently in dire need of mowing, but it was too wet to mow yesterday and it's raining right now; about .15" so far this morning. I'm at about 4.59" for this month and 14.60" for the calendar year.

Can you believe it, my place in Eastland county hasn't got a drop in weeks. I sat there and watched the storms miss my by several hundred yards on Saterday.
My tanks are really low.

Bird--
With the (beautiful) Rain we've been getting you might want to plan on the 5-day mowing cycle for a while. I mowed the back yard last Fri and it may get cut today if the puddles are gone from the 1 inch of rain we got yesterday. I got a 40# sack of lime yesterday so I maybe able to give the whole Lawn & Garden a shot of that with more rain coming this weekend. And then there's the Brush pile that needs burning(if I can get it lit). For some reason the work is backing up on me. I can't seem to get caught up. Too much porch sittin' and watching the rain.

Drought over? Last week Lake Fork was only a foot low........and rising.

Charlie, I'd been mowing every 4 days, but now just too wet. And Lake Lewisville is only down 1.58'. NWS says 40% chance of more rain today.

Hehehe. This is why I don't fertilize my lawn. I mow every two weeks. Every week if we get lots of late summer rain.
