That just means will cut trees/brush up to 1"thick,deck and everything rated for that.
I had a 46pto Kubota and pulled a old heavy 15' Terran King batwing. I have a thread on here somewhere with pics,
(5040 vrs 15ft batwing). It done good pulling it,couldnt get in no hurry when I was mowing in a bottom where some weeds was 4ft tall,in light grass cutting it would run no problem.
I think on the smaller tractor stalling when trying to engage the batwing could have been the electric pto engagement(just guessing) or yeah could have been to low rpm's and working it to fast but just a guess.
Don't take me wrong I believe the 35pto will run the 15ft on light grass cutting but that's a load back there, they are heavy stay on level ground with it, mine even set out wide can be pushed. Its also a load on the internals on those type tractors, not built inside takes a lot of abuse...
As for taking one wing off yes can run but not pick up the one wing. Should be able to find a weight box depending on the model for it somewhere.

Thanks
I do have some hills, but my tractor does weigh about 5,000 lbs may a bit more.
The mowing the guy with that JD 955 is about the kind of mowing I'm doing.
I try to mow our horse pastures three or four times a year. The goal is to keep weeds from going to seed and sweet gums (less than 1/2" in dia) from getting a start.
I would like to be able set the mower to cut 10" high.
I could use a flex deck finish mower, but the cut height for them seems to max out at about 4" way too low for pastures.
