CE Schmidt--reminds me I bought two heavy denim works shirts at TSC last winter. The buttons and holes on one shirt are backwards on the sleeves. Sounds silly but try buttoning backwards sleeves after your fingers have done it the other way for 60-some years.

My first experience with TSC was the Waco, TX, store where I bought a number of things, including a 5' box blade many years ago. After a couple of hours use the first day I had that box blade some welds broke. I took it back and they gave me another one. That one didn't even last 30 minutes before welds broke, and that was using it behind a Kubota B7100.:laughing: They obviously got some bad ones, but as I said, that was about 1995; so years ago. And when I returned the second time the store manager was apologetic, said I could swap it for still a 3rd one, take it to a welder and bring him the receipt and he'd pay it, weld it myself and we'd reach an agreement on price, or refund my oney. You couldn't ask for any better service. I did take the refund and went to my Kubota dealer and bought a more expensive box blade there.

I've bought nuts and bolts, chain, a few tools, rabbit cages, rabbit feed and water containers, manual seed planter, a decorative windmill, gas can, bird feeders, and I'm not sure what else except I haven't been able to beat their prices on birdseed. I bought another 90 pounds day before yesterday.

I've shopped at TSC in Waco, Hillsboro, Corsicana, and Denton, TX, and Ardmore, OK. One thing I learned several years ago is that identical items MAY be priced for considerably different prices in different TSC stores.

We have two TSC stores in the area. One was originally a Central Tractor and converted when TSC bought them out. The other is just a couple years old but smaller. The two things I buy the most are nuts & bolts and cat food.
We have a new large Runnings store nearby that opened last fall. It has put quite a dent in the TSC business locally. They have a lot of stuff but their prices tend to be higher than TSC.

You are probably correct James. Heck, I'd do that too if I was sitting at a sewing machine all day. :laughing:

One thing not mentioned so far; is their policy on special orders for stuff they do not stock, in a specific store. I do that a lot and my WILCO is pretty good on that; even stuff outside their normal stock if I can find an on line source for them that does not sell direct to the consumer. If it's a brand name they deal with usually the shipping will be free.

We had a Tractor Supply open up in our small town a year or two ago and I make it a point to do some shopping there, partially because I try not to spend too much money at Wal-mart, which is pretty much the only other game in town.

I usually buy dog food and kitty litter there because it's the same price as Wal-Mart, and I can get in and out much faster. I do use it, as lots of other folks mentioned, to buy bolts by the pound and other assorted hardware items. They always have a clearance section in the back of the store and I've picked up several tools and odds and ends, even some nice leather rifle slings for $10. I get their sale bills/coupons, and they will have good deals on grease and oils periodically.

Not long after they opened, I had to work on my Isuzu Rodeo and it was a Sunday. I needed some metric bolts and all of the local hardware stores are closed on Sundays (good for them!). But I was glad that I had TSC to go to so that I could get the bolts and finish the project.

I'll say that in general, I like my local hardware stores better, and I like Rural King better than TSC (but we don't have a Rural King), but I haven't had a bad experience at our TSC. I was pleasantly surprised two weeks ago when I needed some parts for my Troy Bilt trimmer. They had the right spark plug (which is kind of an odd ball - I've had troubled finding it before) and fuel lines, plus had a fuel filter I needed for another mower. I ended up spending about $30 (I bought other stuff too) but I got everything I went in after, and that's sometimes tough to do anymore.

Hope the store mentioned by the OP pleases them.

I've noticed that Rural King and TSC carry pretty much identical stuff, but Rural King is usually 10-20% less expensive. And our Rural King it 8-10 times larger than the TSC, as it is in an old Super K-Mart building... its huge! Plus, Rural King gives away free popcorn! :licking:

We call Rural King our 'Redneck Wallmart'. :laughing:

I've wondered about the Jonsered saw. TSC used to sell Huskies. Those disappeared and were replaced by Jonsered. Both of those brands I believe are owned by the same conglomerate--Electrolux. My thought is they own too many brands and decided to use Husky to compete with Stihl and use Jonsered for the lower end market.

Jonsered and Husy both make good saws, but the models TSC sells are low-end homeowner saws that have more in common with box-store Poulans than the other brands. They are all part of the same parent company now.

TSC is convenient because it's in town. But AgriSupply, which is about 70 miles away, is the place to go. Example - 20 inch top link at TSC is $44.95. Same identical one at AgriSupply is $16.95. I could go on and on with examples. So, it depends on how fast you need it. Really good deal I saw last week at AgriSupply was a gallon of 41% glyphosate at $21.95. TSC has 25% at $29.95.

Like UltraRunner I'm currently in a very urban area, farm and tractor stuff is hard to find. No Cabela's either!

The SF Bay Area is kind of a wasteland when it comes to Tractors and Farm and Ranch Supply... the last truck farm in town in now a Avis Rent a Car parking lot....
