I am about to order a custom 16k deckover trailer. I have never had a two speed jack before. I don't know if I want this option or not? The electric hydraulic would be great but maybe more than I want to spend. Pros and cons of two speed?

I had one in a scissor jack once. Liked the 2 speed. Used it when no load to get the jack up and in place quickly. Then slow speed to do the raising.

No, I traded my gooseneck. LOL, I hated it. Went back to tagalong. Having this one built as a tag along. I need all my trailers the same because I back and pull instinctive [without thinking about it], but LOL, not with that gooseneck.

In the case of the pop up spring assist, you only wind it up a little..... so I am wondering if 2 speed would benefit any

Semi's use two speed landing gear and I have run across some that had singles put on and it's a PIA!
If you drop and hook very often you will love it.

I always wind my jack all the way up. I'd rather not drag it off or bend it on something. I rarely use the low speed. But then I rarely crank my jack down with a load on the trailer. My neighbor has a heavy duty bumper hitch trailer with a one speed jack. It aggravates me, a lot.....

Yep, ya gotta realize a gooseneck shortcuts. Otherwise, I prefer them. Much easier to back than bumper hitch (tagalong).

Ask yourself this, what percentage of the total trailer cost is the addition of a 2 speed jack??

Every jack I have used has always been a two speed jack. They always seem to start out in high speed mode but end up in low speed mode...:D

Back when I was young and dumb......ok ok, not so young any more..... We had a semi-trailer dropped for storage on a job site. After filling it with supplies for the job, we learned the first rain it leaked like a sieve. I went to jack the front up to its highest point to drain the water that had pooled at the front of the trailer. I labored and l labored and FINALLY got it jacked up - assuming the jack was a piece of junk like the rest of the trailer.

Later that evening I was discussing my day with a neighbor friend and he asked if I was sure I had the jack handle set on the low gear. I said WHAT?? Yup, my friend got a good laugh at my expense that day. My arms were sore for days after that.

That is not the jack, it is your arm losing speed.
