Oil & Fuel BX Fuel Filter Change Lessons Learned

I have a curved pair and a straight pair that works for me, and they're shiny.

Of course I have on my HF Nitrile gloves and an assistant to hand me the filter.

I have a 2009 BX24. It has 3 fuel filters on it. I did not buy it new. Is it suppose to have 3 filters? one of them is steel and the other 2 is plastic.
1 beside the engine the other 2 underneath.

My 2007 BX24 just has the one plastic fuel filter underneath.

It sounds as the steel one is the fuel pump. My BX24 only has two filters, see if the steel one has wires going to it.

the steel one is your fuel pump not a filter.

Yes, and I looked at eliminating the first in-line fuel filter and installing a better 'B' series filter near the second one by the engine. Dealer reminded me that the first one is before the pump so eliminating it could void the warranty. Oh well... I will wait until warranty expires but it is a pain because I have full body armor underneath and don't want to have to get to that one again. Here is a pic of the B series filter. Much better IMO.

you don't eliminate it just replace it with the b series filter or one like it an mount it in another location by extending the fuel line from the fuel tank to the new filter assembly an back to the input of the fuel pump. That will NOT void your warranty.

I like the ONE filter on my B26 except for the replacement cost ($15). It has an auto shut off when you remove the filter. The when you reinstall filter/bowl assembly it starts flowing again. It will overfill the bowl while tightening so you do loose a bit of fuel but no need to bleed any air from it.
My dealer said you can buy the whole assembly including the mount for about $8-10 more than filter alone. You also need to buy 2 O-rings when replacing the filter that are over $2 so it isn't bad to just replace the whole filter if it gets damaged OR you want to install one on a different machine.

I don't understand why a BX would need 2 filters when my B26 only requires one.
