I have the deere. I have had my fair share of issues all of which are resolved. I don't think the deere and Kubota are a fair comparison though. The deere is a utility tractor while I think the kubotas would be considered a large compact. I don't know of any utility tractors with the hst option. We have the 12/12 power reverser and really like it for what we do. The hst would be handy for some tasks but we love the size and grunt of the Deere. The h240 is a monster too. One thing to think about would be on the loader getting the skid steer quick attach over the 500 series or global carrier system. I have the global and while it's easy, there are not many attachments out there for it unless you get the big stuff. I just bought an adapter system so I can retain the global but also have ssqa stuff too but it's high dollar.

Go to each dealer and test drive. See what you think.

I agree with Rusty ... these tractors are not directly comparable. The MX tractors you are looking at are "CUT's" (compact utility tractors) and the JD you are comparing is a "UT" (utility tractor), though, on the small side of the UT scale. The MX tractors you listed are HST (hydrostatic) vs the JD which is gear. Those transmission options carry pros & cons, depending on your tasks.

I have the MX5100 as well, and find it very capable on my 7.5 acre plot. I got the BH92 Backhoe and LA844 loader. Have about 450hrs now and no real issues. Most chores burn about 1 gal (IMP) / hour at 1800 to 2200 rpm.

Enjoy,

Dave

We have SCUTs, CUTs, UT and Ag, for the OP needs, I would pick the MX5800 and around here there's no difference in resale on the size of tractors mentioned, green does better in the big Ag units though.

I have MX4800 and am amazed at its capabilities and ease of use. Here in NH Kubota CUTs have better resale. Ag equipment is a different story.
Be sure to get SSQA, loaded tires, 3rd function hydraulics up front, 2 rear hydraulic remotes. For versatility I would suggest going with R4 tires. You're going to spend a lot of money make sure you outfit the tractor to get the most out of it.

The 3rd function remote for my MX5100 is the Land Pride unit which is great was about $770 including the guide for the hoses. It works great and the sending unit that mounts on the loader control is slick and efficient. It is a complete unit including the mount for the loader cross tube to hold the hoses. You will need about 5' of additional hose for an auger. I assume it will be about the same for a grapple. This is for the power beyond port installation for the front only. If you are coming from the rear remotes it is a different system completely. I prefer the forward installation.

Yes, and as I mentioned in the PM you're looking at about twice that for the third function but it is very slick. I love it. I actuality had a dream about if. My wife is still mocking me about that!

My take, your mileage may vary....I paid 36k for my DK 45 Hst cab.2013 mfg date, tier 3,with kb 2485 hoe with mech grapple. and third function up front for a grapple, standard equip with the cab unit, 1 remote out back,F/R wipers, am, fm cdplayer, heat, ac, sun visor, three cup holders. tilt, phone charger suspension seat, etc.cruise etc, free kl401 loader 27065 lbs lift to full hieght 107.7 inches...2.5 inches shy of the mx 5800but clearly WAY more tractor for the money.
