Bend test? I haven't welded two together yet if that's what you mean. I have no doubt the machine can do it and do so quite well. If, with my extremely limited experience I was able to puddle and fill on the can without punching through was the main reason for doing this.

I notice Amazon has this machine on sale for $680. I'm on my 3rd bottle of Argon and the welder is still solid. TIG is fun but there is a learning curve. I'm really getting what I call "pretty" beads now and last night I tack welded two beer cans together without blowing through. For $680, I am going to say this machine is unbeatable and perfect for a small shop or farm.

.... TIG is fun but there is a learning curve. I'm really getting what I call "pretty" beads now and last night I tack welded two beer cans together without blowing through. For $680, I am going to say this machine is unbeatable and perfect for a small shop or farm.

Love those Pyrex cups. Couldn't get the vids to play, but that looks like the Lincoln guy- am I right? I've seen some of his videos and he is just impossibly good. Where's the best place to get Pyrex cups? If it looks like I'm going to be doing mostly lightweight stuff I may get the CK-9 kit from Mr. Tig. May just do it anyway and save the CK -17 for heavier work.

Never used pyrex cups. The regular ones are more durable. I will recommend getting a gas lens though. More tungsten stickout will help you see what you are doing better than a transparent cup IMHO.

That seems like an expensive way to make a smoker. He must be in bed with the Argon companies. I will say I got a good tip from him and after trying it both ways he is right. On dirty aluminum the wire brush just makes it worse. Kenny at the shop said the same thing.

Ok, as suggested by CNC-Dan, I got a stubby gas lens kit from HTP. All I can say is the torch is now infinitely better. Even my fillet welds look pretty good. Now Kenny at the shop says he doesn't use one, but does own them. Obvious from his welds he doesn't need it. But for me the gas lens is like night and day different. No idea why. I'll post some weld pics when it cools off here, the shop was about 105 in there today. It may be just me, but if you're new to TIG get a gas lens.
