Went to the local dealer today and had some seat time in the B2601. It's true, I'm getting a lot more tractor compared to the JD 1025. I like the 3 point control, hst pedal, tilt steering, and the lower rpm working range compared to the BX. I would say that it is more in between the JD 1 series and the 2 series. The 2 series is out of my price range. I negotiated the B2601 with 60" FEL with quick attach couplers, ballast box and the 60" drive over MMM for $23,000. I can get a mechanical 60" front snow blade for $800 more. I feel that the extra hp and torque with this machine will be better for me in the future when I get a tiller and rear snow blower.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Between the 1025R and the B2601, get the Kubota and don't look back. Especially if you prefer the Kubota HST pedal arrangement.

I couldn't make up my mind up between the Kubota BX or the B2301/B2601 until after I got to see them in person and decided on the B2601. This is my first small tractor purchase and no regrets. Do you get $750. off when you buy two implements up where you live? If so, that in itself would pay for your snow plow.

I looked at B2301, Bx, and 1025r and went with 1025r. I felt I would be happy with B or JD. I got h120 FEL, hoe, 60" mmm, 54" front snow thrower, and ballast box for 28k. They were running promo that helped make the difference. 1025r is more tractor than bx in clearance and lift. It is very close to b2301. The quick attach is great. Can change FEL and hoe for mmm in less yuan 10 minutes. Nice. We had record snow in New England and the blower was a beast. I have steep inclined driveway and yard of 400 feet. Moved over 2' deep in under 2 hours. Clearing out 3 car widths, paths to wood pile etc. it pulled weeks of wood in trailer, over snow and ice up hill without slipping.

Got clamp on fork to reach loft storage and logging. This allows moving more than what can fit just in the bucket.

I downsized from Kubota L355ss. I got to a point where I no longer needed large tractor and wanted to consolidate machines. I can do what everything like before and then some with 1025r.

I did test ride mahindra, JD and b2301. JD and b2301 were better on capability and ease of use. I think JD was better on ease of implement change and I got a better price with promo. Again, would have been happy with kubota too.

I was in nearly the same situation last summer, 2 acre lot near Ottawa, 200+' driveway tapering from 15' to 70' wide, some landscaping planned (rebuild large raised garden, replace front walkway, add patio and level lawn) and a lawn tractor with snow blower that was too slow (2h lawn, 2.5h min snow) and over stressed. After starting to look at the BX, I eventually purchased a 2032R with 72" MMM, 54" FSB and FEL from Green Tractors in Kingston.

Mowing isn't quite as nice as the lawn tractor but it's certainly acceptable and only takes an hour. I'm guessing I'll be done in 45 minutes once the lawn is smoothed. I don't think any snow fall last year took more than 90 minutes to clear (most under 1h) and I'm moving a trailer and clearing more area now (path to back of property, behind garage, etc). The FEL is very useful on this size machine but it still isn't comparable to a skid steer or full size backhoe. Overall I'd consider the tractor overkill but not absurd for mowing, right sized for snow removal (with blower) and right sized for landscaping. I suspect I would have also been happy with a BX sized machine but the 2032R allows me to complete tasks faster.

A FEL is not the right tool for snow removal, at least on these small tractors. The bucket capacity is way too small. HP is king for blowing snow. 32 (25ish? PTO) works well but if I had 50, I'd use it.

Assuming a fixed budget and the primary ongoing tasks are mowing and snow removal with a couple landscaping projects in the near future, I'd recommend going to a smaller tractor to enable the purchase of a front mount snowblower. You FEL work will take longer but snow removal will be much faster.

If I hadn't decided to go with a B / 2R size machine, I would have looked very closely at the small Massy tractors at the dealer in Winchester (Dan's?).

If you decide you go with JD, at least give the Kingston dealer an opportunity to quote. They were a couple grand less than the Ottawa area dealer network.

Thanks for all the informative posts, it's really making my shopping easier.

JGraves we have close to the same situation. As I have been shopping the local JD dealer JA Williams has been really great and informative. They just can't come close to the Kubota prices. Green tech hasn't even given me the time of day. I'm going to contact the Kingston dealer on Monday. I am for sure getting a blower now after all the research I have done.

I can get the B2601 with a block heater, ballast box, 60" FEL, 60" MMM, 64" rear snow blower for $25,000 before tax. The JD 2025R with the same attachments is closer to $30k. I will see what the Kingston dealer says. Thanks for the great feedback.

Any update? I am in a similar situation but have moved to NB from Ontario 2 months ago. Wondering how much the dealers discount beyond the national promos. Will be buying a similar tractor as you but with a post hole digger instead of the blower. Thanks and best of luck in your search.

I ended up getting the B2601 with block heater, ballast box, rear led rops lights. Attachments are FEL with 60" bucket, 60" MMM, and the 64" rear blower with manual rotation. All in was $25,000 plus tax. Hope this helps you out with your pricing in NB.
