Nice work! And, well worth the cost and effort, as you already know! The right tools make jobs go so much easier.

Thanks Varmint,

Yeah it's always nice to get a new piece of gear that works well and speeds up your job. The grapple is a great addition to my cleanup efforts.

Pat,

I just was at my shop and checked the old pins, I had not removed one to measure it when I responded before and was operating from memory and was thinking they were 25mm. They are actually 1" pins, so will be the same as yours.

Agree 100%!! This write-up comes at the right time. I just ordered a LA703 quick attach bracket and will be using it on the LA681 that mounts to my L3710. Thanks a million for all the R&D work on this.
Can you share more info on the bushings you made up to fit your loader?
Material?
Quantity required? (Assuming 4 sets, but just wanted to verify)
Outside diameter?

Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments guys, I have gotten a lot of good information from various forums, everything from truck rebuild help to fixing my refrigerator. I was glad to have the opportunity to document a little project and put it out there to pay back a little of what I've gotten.

Bspeedy, the bushings needed are 4 each of 1/8" and 4 each of 11/16", they are 1" inside diameter and mine were 1 3/4" outside diameter. However just about any outside diameter over 1 1/2" would work, I just happened to have some 1 3/4" bronze bar so that's what I used. Any steel would be fine, even aluminum would work. They only need to take up space and add support to the wider pins on the new bucket. Good luck, it's a great improvement to be able to swap implements quickly and easily and opens up a whole lot of attachment options.

Thanks for the quick reply, ehb. I should receive the QA for the LA703 sometime this week.

I might try to use 1" ID washers for my spacers until I can get a friend to machine custom bushings for me.

ehb86- Thanks for posting all your Kubota SSQA information as I've been looking for the same thing. I think your LA681 specs are the same as my LA680 and the LA703 SSQA should work for me too.
A couple questions though, did how did you use your existing 1" pins? Inside my bucket ears are narrower and have shorter 1" pins. I assume they are shorter than the pins required for the LA703 loader. Did the LA703 SSQA come with longer 1" pins?

Thanks

PS- One more question. I just read on another site where the bucket stops may have to be ground down some. Was there any problems with a full dump or curl due to those stops on the LA703 SSQA?

Houser 52,

The LA703 comes with the longer 1" pins, so all you have to do is make up spacers that will take up the space at your cylinder and loader arm ends. In my case it required one 11/16" and one 1/8" spacer for each pin. I'd guess your LA 680 will be the same but I don't know for sure.

I didn't need to modify the stops and get full dump and curl but again your loader may be a little different, if it requires anything it shouldn't be a lot of work. Have fun.

Thanks again for all the info, you have certainly been a big help.

From what I can find out, the only difference between your loader (681)and mine (680)is the hydraulic valve so, I should be good to go.

Now if I can just find a local dealer that wants to take my order. Just about all of them I have called have been less than helpful and could care less that I want to spend my $ at their place.
