You know **** well if the guy who was reckless with the firearm was posting anomously ranting with tall stories about dirt bikes dumping mattresses and the like, his posts would be virtually indistinguishable from yours.
Do you have a reading disability? Or it a fixation on "dirt bikes dumping mattresses"?
my post:
We've got about 300 acres. They had existing logging roads and power ROW. How about the young people learn to WALK or BICYCLE through the woods and not litter?

I've one parcel that had a nice little logging road running about the length of the property, right down the middle. About 100 yards in it is now impassable due to 4 wheel drive trucks "hogging out" slight mud holes. The woods are dense enough on either side that they can't get an ATV between the trees, so access to the rest of the acreage is denied. I've another parcel where they must have had competition because the logging road is eroded so deep it's above my head. I find occasional "party camps" with discarded mattresses and cases of beer cans (it's a dry county) plus evidence of lightly attended bonfires. I'm dreading the day when I get the call that 100 acres just burned because "for the sake of the youngsters" I didn't scare them away.
mentioned 4 wheel drive trucks. I don't actually know how they got the mattresses and beer cans there.

But I'd be glad if they went to your land instead.

I have had issues partly family but it was the idiots they brought along that made me mad. I have worked hard on my place and created swells across the land to direct water runoff away from barn etc. I planted grasses on hillsides to prevent erosion and told them all to stay off grasses when crossing not to tear it up.

I cam home one day to a teenager and a twenty something (nephew friends) who had been there (nephew was not there.) They had a 3 or 4 feet wide path thru my yard around my barn and into my woods. It was tore up to dirt and the areas I leveled and planted were destroyed. This was 3rd or 4th time of similar issues so I kicked out ALL of them family included *which included my shooting range. I found a row of my pines run down by a UTV told them fixt it and replant or dont come back... Have not seen them since & glad they are gone. Neighbors have UTVs and I have let them ride & specified dont tear up the grass and or damage trees, (adults) and yes they ran around and around under my ROW tearing the grasses and my trails all up same to them I showed him and told them this damage was unacceptable he agreed and DID fix it & re-planted some grass he is a good neighbor and I let him ride the woods & creek. a few laps is no big deal it is the 50 or 100 that kills the grasses and causes washout on hills...

Of road vehicles would not be anywhere near as offensive if they were not so loud, Not That it matters, if you don't want someone riding anything across your land, you have every right, and even an obligation to prosecute.
Few people who ride off road have not had there engines jetted and piped for performance ...that means extreme noise.
Anyone who pursues a hobby that causes that kind of noise, is asking for trouble when they chose to execute their hobby on someone's else's property.
If you think someone should allow you to do that on their property without compensation...you're an idiot.
That's a given. There is no room for argument.
As a side note.....
I live in a state that allows air boats in public waterways. Have you ever heard an air boat? It's stupid loud....permanent hearing loss loud. PTSD loud. You can hear an air boat from 5 miles away. Why this is legal....I have no idea.
I have ridden my share of dirt bikes (on public land) and I have come to realize that there is a commonality to those who pursue this long term. They have no regard for anyone's sensibilities other than their own. They just like to p"s people off.
For a minute I thought that you were talking about Harleys on public roads... Then I reread. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of a well tuned bike; but when a guy is sitting next to you with straight pipes, grinning at you while revving the engine waiting for the light- as he's wearing ear plugs-
It isn't just off road vehicles.

You know what would be fun as all get out? To get one of those train horns installed in the truck. When those idiot Harley riders do this sort of thing....get behind them and let 'er rip! Those things are so loud, the guy might just poop himself.

Google youtube to see/hear one of those horns in action. They are real train horns. I don't advocate using them like some have....but for the annoying loud arse, it would be awesome! :D

I used to keep my woods behind my house cleared of underbrush. then had people on 4 wheelers deciding to use it, crossing my creek and leaving ruts. I stopped clearing the woods, now nothing can go thru it easily. I even had to move a large log across another section to keep them from coming on my property. Fortunately those people have now moved, the log is gone. I don't mind my neighbor riding his 4 wheeler across me to get to the road on the other side, but I don't want the whole neighborhood doing it, especially the ones tearing up the creek. Still got one renter on the other side that likes to do donuts in my driveway. I've had words with him , in a nice way asking him to not do it in my drive. He still does occasionally.

First order of business when I bought my place in California was to clear the forests of poison oak... no exaggeration.

A few months later the folks that sold me the place asked how things were going.. told them I was getting a handle on the poison oak... he voiced that I should have just left it.

Back in the early 60's there were problems with people following the little creek so he made an effort to encourage the poison oak and it worked...

Sure enough.. people have discovered my trail network... and it's better than the parkland adjacent.

If I wasn't so susceptible to poison oak... I would have and should have left it.

Years back, in a sorta nearby county, a landowner was having problem with people riding ATV's on his land. He had put up no trespass signs, and I think talked to the people breaking the law, none of which worked. He put up a cable across where they were accessing the property....

One of the riders lost his head.

I don't know if there was ever a civil suit but there was no criminal charges filed the last I had heard.

Later,
Dan
Want to detail the year and location of that incident? This the one?

From the story: "An Upper Keys man died July 4 in North Carolina the day after riding an all-terrain vehicle into a metal cable that someone slung across a path between two trees. But the Swain County (N.C.) Sheriff's Office said it is not investigating despite the possibility of malicious circumstances surrounding the man's death."

What about a sign "Poison Oak, pass at own risk?"

Recently, my wife was walking her two long hair chihuahuas and two young kids on a four wheeler came buzzing out from one of our trails down to our pond. It's a ways down in the woods so they were just joy riding past the no trespassing signs from our long driveway. Well long story short she told them not to do it again and they were polite about it. Now these two dogs were given to us when they were already grown. They are pure breed. The first one is Doodle, he's fairly laid back. The second one is Snicker and he's a red eyed devil for sure.

Doodle

Snicker

Snicker Doodle in case you didn't catch the phrase.

Well doodle was just barking but snicker went into his maniac routine

Devil Dog snicker

This dog is nuts. I don't know what happened to him in his former life...but he can be loving and friendly on your lap...but...if you just touch him the wrong way to pick him up or something and he goes maniac devil dog for no reason. The two kids were clearly scared of him. He's enough to scare off any intruder is anyone wants to borrow him on here...lol. I could just post pics of him snarling and it would scare off the toughest intruder.
