I have trails on my land. I like them pristine, pine-needle covered, smooth, narrow & difficult, and no ruts. I use them to just "take in my land" not for performance riding.
I would NEVER allow people I don't know on my land. Squids on 55 horsepower bikes tear up trails, make their own hillclimbs as they see fit. And so do many experienced riders. Here and there are good guys who know how to ride a nice trail, but not the general dirtbikin' public. Also I don't want them pokin' around, taking note of what I have or telling loser friends what I have. My trails do NOT appear outside my boundaries so they are not likely to find them. I certainly don't want them integrating my trails into their training course. I'm not insured against their lawyers , and can't fence, and don't want to. Many many reasons. Haven't had much trouble yet so I still do a lot of "hoping".
I have a gate that I made to look exactly like a Forest Service gate. A "plus" is people know its strong. "Minus" is they might think it's public land,,,,, so I attached the private prop sign right on the gate.
My private property signs disappeared near the end of the first hunting season (after I bought it). I replaced them and still there 4 years later. I suspect it was someone who "always hunted that land" in the past. In general hunters I've met have seemed honorable, and I can kinda sense those who are not.
I never understood people's obsession with 2 stokes either.
A state of the art 4 stroke engine works just fine. Quieter also.
Off topic but this thread is way off topic. You have to ride it to understand it. Light weight, easy maintenance, and a high performance 2stroke can be quieter than a high performance 4 stroke. I have some 2 strokes; some 4 strokes, like them for different things. Hear lots of dirt bikes in my area, the 4-strokes sound carries much farther, have to "listen up hard" to hear the 2-stokes. I'm referring to "lower rpm riding" on trails.
