radial arm saw plasma cutter

I have built straight line devices out of drafting slides and such before but having it driven is what gives you the largest advantage.

For short cuts like a radial arm saw would give you I just put a section of cold rolled steel in my homemade pantograph, any straight edge will do. The best templates are made from metal because you don't have to hold anything but wood and plastic also work.

Saves lots of time making duplicate parts as well but it is a lot faster than CNC for even a single part.

This is a 1" plate steel bracket I cut with it.

It is setup for a oxy/act in the photo but remove two bolts and the plasma torch drops into the cup (above the torch tip) and is held in by the hose clamp.

Also makes irregular cuts simple.

I could see the radial being very useful for repeated angle cuts, like if you were making a bunch of gussets for metal rafters or a truck body or something.

I could also see replacing the plasma with a mini grinder, bolted on through one of the side handle holes, and using it like a poor man's surface grinder for weld prep and such. Maybe wire brush finish work, too?
