It is the water companies burden to maintain a safe water pressure. Anything over 80 can cause you lots of problems. Mine was 120. Called the Rural Water Company and they put in a regulator and asked me where I wanted it set. My outside hydrant is rated for 80 psi so I had them set it for 75. I also have a regulator inside the house to bring it down even further. The high pressure can ruin water heaters, refrigerators etc.

Country Geek - my well is a HUGE spring that will produce over 250 GPM - if you have the pump for it. I just have a 3/4 horse submersible but when the "pocket hose " ruptured it dam near washed everything away. I went out in the yard and there was 2" of water everywhere. I'm sure it gave the 'ol submersible a good work out.

You're lucky. Most places the property owner is responsible for anyghint after the meter. Our town built a new reservoir on the canyon rim. Town is in the valley below. They blew fixtures all over town and the complainers were told "sorry, put in a regulator".

I've had a couple of these. They are really handy and convenient. Unfortunately, neither lasted a full summer. So I don't have one now.

We had two, lasted about a year before they blew out

I had one. When I'd open the spray nozzle at the end of it, it would release so much pressure from the hose that it would contract. Close the nozzle it extended again. I know that's from low flow, buy I didn't want full flow. It was a novelty that has long been discarded.

We had a couple.. I disagree about them sucking. They blow... when you least want them to. They worked fine when they were new, but both blew up in a a few months. I have regular hoses that are decades old and still working. These things are a very short time affair. YMMV
