My quad has a lowly 2 megapixel camera, but here are a couple pics from my flight tonight. This thing is loads of fun!

One has to love the possible vantage points. I am looking forward to some camera shots next flight.

Nice thumbs up at the end!
Thanks Moss, yes I was a happy voyeur, I mean camper!

Thanks IT, hopefully the advancement of the technology along with awareness of the risks and respect of others will allow UAVs to be accepted without too much controversy. But like guns, gays, abortion, climate change, etc. there will be differing opinions and some very strong.

There is a non-profit association in which my company participates, called AUVSI (Assoc. for Unmanned Vehicle Systems Int'l). This organization, "serving more than 7,500 members from government organizations, industry and academia, AUVSI is committed to fostering, developing, and promoting unmanned systems and robotics technologies. AUVSI members support defense, civil and commercial sectors."

What most people don't realize is, that the same effort for unmanned vehicles operating on the ground, sea, and beneath are being developed and deployed just the same as the aerospace robots but they aren't as sexy and visible, so they don't get the attention.

Nice work! At work we support whale.org, (https://www.whale.org/) who developed the "SnotBot." They fly a modified toy drone through the blow from whales, which allows them to get DNA, from that they can identify the animal and even see if they are under stress.

There are several autonomous sea vehicles developed as well, one of which swims like a dolphin: effecient and no prop noise.

Then there's this.

Now that is something very useful for a drone.

I have no doubt we will discover many many constructive uses for drones beyond simple entertainment and panoramic overhead views of property. The challenge will be to keep those activities focused on the positive side of the ledger sheet.

"When drones are outlawed, only outlaws will have drones."
And luckily we are not encumbered by bizarre recent interpretations of the 2nd amendment as guidelines for drone use are crafted. It will be a push and pull affair but starting with a blank sheet of paper we can consider what reasonable private use of drones/UAVs might look like and craft practical guidelines and limits. I have no doubt it will take several iterations to find a good balance that allows exploration and novel uses while still preserving peace and safety.
