I called the regional headquarters today and spoke to a regional sales rep. He told me the same thing that I was told yesterday. The machine is spotless and came off the show room floor. There were no changes made between the 2014 to the 2015. I think I'll stop out the dealership tomorrow and make them aware of the year of the machine, hey maybe they'll throw something in for me. The price was right compared to buying a Gator. The 1120D RTX cost me $14,000 plus $700 more for a full windshield and metal roof and mirror. I put about an hour on it just running through my hay fields, I like the way the Hydro stops you, it just seems safe to me.

I see this all the time when buying new construction equipment. The build date really becomes insignificant as the hours go on the meter. As you said, if there's no dramatic changes between the years, it doesn't matter.

Post your feelings about the machine after you have ran it awhile.

Congrats on the purchase. :)

Let me give you an example of model years. Currently model 2016 automobiles are being built in 2015. So are they vehicles 2015 model or 2016? They are whatever the manufacture says they are. Typically the next model year starts in August of the previous year.

I wouldn't worry about it and just enjoy your machine! (0: Let us know how you like it. My uncle in-law just bought one. He will run it in some rough country!

Yeah that's the only thing I don't like about them... Top speed is a little low. 28 mph is still pretty impressive for a hydro trans!

Mine will only run 20 mph tops on a flat level surface. I can live with it as I've averaged about 6 mph since I've had it. Sometimes you just want to go fast I guess.

As for the year...I went through the same issue with my tractor and I made the same calls and received the same answers. However, it is frustrating when you think you're buying something and find out it's not what you thought. I've not thought about since then until it was discussed here. You'll thoroughly enjoy it's capabilities, so try not to focus on the year and just enjoy the awesome machine you bought! Congrats!!!

I bought my current truck with 100K miles on it and equipped the way I wanted. I paid no attention to it's age. It was 10 years old.

I recently bought an RTV900 with 186 hours on it and in very good condition. I paid no attention to it's age either. It's 9 years old.

Model year for new items only comes into play if I can find a carry over and save a few bucks. :)

186 hrs in 9 yrs - could be a new world record! Does it still have the "new car smell"?:D

It's not a car and it's not a truck where title date makes a difference. Tractors (which is the category the Kubota RTV falls in) "mostly" go by hours and condition and not date manufactured. If the features change then also may make a difference but sometimes "new" features are not an improvement and a pre new features model may be more desirable. I've bought around 18 new Kubotas, tractors, an RTV1140, F mowers and zero turn mowers. Bought one new, traded it several years later and then bought it back and then traded it off again a year later and the primary point about it was it had 160 hours the last time it sold, not the year of manufacture. Rarely have I ever heard of a discount on tractors because they were last years model, like cars and trucks, unless there were major changes.
Enjoy your RTV and forget it's birthdate or celebrate it's adoption date to come to your house as it's birthday. I'd refer to it as a 2015 model since that's the year you bought it and it was NEW off the showroom floor.

It's hard to shift speeds. All the experts say it's because it isn't broke in yet.

Also ran the VIN, it's actually an '08 model rather than an '06. Sorry.... :(

Well my RTV-X1120D turned up last Friday and very happy with it's performance around my place with is fairly challenging for any vehicle. 4WD dropped out a couple of times though on a long continuous hill climb, dealer notified and will get that sorted no doubt. For us a very nice and very capable UTV.
