just got 25d costs

   / just got 25d costs #32
Tonight when I was out mowing and was playing around a little on our BX25D on our slopes and found the following.

I had the Mid mount mower and my Cyclone rake hooked to the machine (not sure what the rake weighs but it had at LEAST 1 foot of grass clippings in it and it is the 10hp (largest) model so at least a few 100 pounds)

On the flat in low if I left off I would stop pretty much instantly but maybe move up to 6" if I left off the pedal slowly and not just pulled my foot up.

On 10-15 degree it would creep down the hill Very slowly but little back pressure on the HST pedal or the brake would stop it.

I went to a little over 20 degrees and had basically the same results.

I jumped on my larger MX and went on the 20ish degree slope and stopped (Loader on but nothing in it, no trailer or anything on the 3pt, it has a 3 range HST tranny and I was in Medium - my normal working gear) and it did stop but then slowly started to inch downward - I had to apply the brake or hit the HST pedal slightly backward to totally stop the movement.

Anyway just wanted to give everyone an example of how our BX behaves so they can decide if theres is the same or different. By no means do I feel it is dangerous to operate or a threat to my or my families health. Actually my 14 year old commonly uses it and never so much as bumped into anything or had any issues in our case.

Hope this helps....

Greetings John Thomas,

I apologize if I overstated how tolerable your situation is on flat land. But reading your intensions to trade your new unit as soon as you can get an acceprable price does not sould like a tolerable situation to me :
If you believe my trading because I hate the machine, then you haven't read very many of my posts. :D I'll trade because the weather changes, well, maybe not that easily. My BX25D-1 stops just like any HST I've owned on level, going down hill, loaded or not loaded except at the point of actual stop it goes some more. I drove down to the end of my street yesterday and stopped in the cul de sac which is ALMOST level. Stopped almost, tapped reverse, stopped, started rolling slowly, tapped reverse, stopped, started rolling and did this about 5 times. It would start rolling again on near level paved street in rabbit. Going up and down one of my steep gravel drives and let off and it slowed down just like every other HST I've owned but then would start slowly rolling in 4wd and turtle. Other HSTs have sort of moved in the same situation or a slow jerky creep forward unless brake is applied. It's not dangerous, it stops almost just like any other HST at moving speed except at slow precision stopping it just keeps going at a slow, slow, slow speed which makes for bad precision stopping like all my other HSTs. It's different than all my other HSTs. It works correctly in reverse noticed yesterday and believe it worked correctly in reverse after the mechanic adjusted it at Barlows. It's not dangerous for stopping, it stops just like any HST except for the slight slow roll on at the end or should be end. [/ B]

Seems that many Kubota threads and virtually any thread related to BX-25 is being derailed into the "My BX25 doesn't stop the way I think it should" thread. This thread started off with a simple question as to whether a dealer-quoted price was thought to be reasonable, then immediately took an off-topic left turn to braking issues.
JOHNTHOMAS, while it's tempting and easy to take shots at people in forums, my intension is not to be either rude or sarcastic. Please sir take your BX back to the dealership where you've purchased so many Kubotas and tell them to call you when it operates as intended. If the dealer and/or Kubota cannot or will not affect the repair to your satisfaction, then request your money back, or pursue in court or via any U.S. Government agency that might oversee your tractor's condition. Better yet, go to your dealer and test drive a few new BX-25s until you find one that operates to your satisfaction and demand a reasonable trade. Clearly we won't be able to enjoy these forums the way they are intended and stay on topic until your situation is remedied and you are again happy. Good luck....

JOHNTHOMAS, while it's tempting and easy to take shots at people in forums, my intension is not to be either rude or sarcastic. I don't believe this. These types of remarks always come from an anonomyous person that won't fill out their profile to let those of us on the forum know who they are and where they are from, like you.
Please sir I'va always considered it an insult when someone disagrees with me and starts out or throws in SIR which is obviously still a valid observation take your BX back to the dealership where you've purchased so many Kubotas and tell them to call you when it operates as intended. I've bought/traded/sold around 20 Kubotas.
Clearly we Who's we? You speak for the forum? Your now a Moderator? won't be able to enjoy these forums the way they are intended And how long have you been on this forum and making contributions for the pleasure and education of others on the forum?and stay on topic until your situation is remedied and you are again happy. Good luck....

You didn't even start this thread and your telling others how to participate? Threads start and get off track often and it's a normal part of any forum. If the original question were never answered it would be different but it was and other BX25 owners and potential owners have concerns which they have expressed here. If you don't like it the best solution is to not open the thread or skip and parts or people you don't want to hear from. You do know you can block my name and never see anything I post, don't you?

OP, my apologies on where this went in your thread. I won't post here again.

JOHNTHOMAS, I was raised to treat people with respect and address them by Sir, yet you consider that an insult then choose to objurgate me on this Forum. That's an issue you will need to deal with Sir, not me. The fact is that you have made it your personal vendetta to take virtually every recent BX25 thread and turn it into your "woe is me, I don't like the brakes on my tractor" thread while suggesting that all recent BX25s exhibit the issues you claim yours does. My (unsolicited) advice Sir is to either address and fix the problem with your tractor or stop whining about it here.

A really good price. I paid $17500 financed for a BX25D-1 with none of the implements (add ons) you've listed and it was a Kubota promotional price at the time. Mine has an issue that makes me unsatisfied due to it being different than the other 15 or so Kubota HSTs I've bought/owned/own but doubt it has anything to do with the price.

every once and awhile I read a thread that's some sort of wild internet frenzy that does not at all correlate to what we see out in the market place. This is one of those threads.
