It was a bit nerve racking alright! I put the hard hat on just for that shoot - don't normally wear one for that kind of work.

I let mine hover unattended for about 3 minutes today while it videoed me cutting a tree. Actually I hovered it twice because my saw got pinched the first time. Before anyone accuses me of being unsafe my dad was actually cutting the tree and my I was pulling the tree.

Thanks. They are fun to fly and they open up all kinds of recreational and practical opportunities. My hobby is making Youtube videos for fun and profit and I've already created a playlist of drone videos on my Youtube channel (a little self promotion ).

I'm waiting for them to come up with something affordable that will go underwater for 30-50 feet. (Maybe when I find a winning lottery ticket on the ground.) I think that it wojld be interesting to see how many relics are on the bottom of lakes up here... most had steam boats, some of which burned or sunk.

An under water drone would be pretty sweet. You could get a go pro with a water proof case and weight it, then hook a rope to it and paddle around with it from your canoe.

Nice job GP! I haven't ventured into the multi camera editing yet. I have the Phantom 3. Yeah you were fighting some winds alright. That hover mode is nice, eh? Did you have power to your compressor?

I made a couple of videos of towing my GoPro underwater with the drone. I had no need to go deep though (I was filming small fish that come to shore to spawn), but the drone seemed to have lots of lifting power and I would likely try going deeper if I thought there was something there. I used a backup float as a bit of a safety measure. Also considering coming up with some kind of breakaway between the float and the drone in case the GoPro gets snagged or grabbed by something . Thanks. Only had to bring the compressor back once to recharge for the sections of fence you see in the video. I left the compressor in the bucket all the time.

So far I haven't done any real sustained hovering tests other than the one you see in my fence video. In the video you can see the drone moving off the set position a fair bit. Wind was a factor but I believe (just guessing) that the fluctuating number of satellites might have more to do with the variation in position. At times during this shoot I observed as few as 4 and as many as 11 satellites on the screen. The drone maker recommends you have at least 6 before you fly.

yea, 4 is scary! i had mine up filming the finish line of a 5k run, and in a 10-15mph breeze it
kept drifting substantially, like 60-80ft. i have done an advanced recalibration and will see what happens
next time i'm up in the breeze. at that time i had 14 sats so i was confused on why it drifted so far.

i saw your video of the fish, that was neat.. beautiful country up there bob!
