Tired of being cold: Best, warmest jacket for farm/tractor work?

If'n one is sitting on a tractor and not physically exerting themselves the Skidoo clothing will be as good as it gets. Including electrical just to top it off.

If it's cold out and physical work is involved you'll have to develop an assortment that work for you. Don't ever think gortex and it's variants will keep you dry if you are sweating lots. But you will get layers of ice on the inside of the gortex.

I like an insulated jump suit for tractor driving in cold weather. I add and subtract layers above or below the jump suit as needed.

L.L.Bean has a waxed cotton jacket that I like for our NH winters. It is down filled with a waxed cotton shell. I like it so much that I also have the vest. I wear it with a set of orange hunters bibs from Bass Pro Shops. Keeps me warm and makes me obvious to the plow drivers and the soccer moms that seem to be everywhere in the storms we have. I look like the Michelin man in, but I look like that anyways so no problem there. The next best thing would be a snowmobile suit. Don't forget your head and feet, good gear for your head keeps warmth in and cold feet make you miserable.

Join your local volunteer fire department and wear your turnouts. Waterproof, warm, tough. Might want to see if you can get an old pair if you use them much. The department might frown on the extra wear and tear.

I've found that nothing beats an electric liner. I use an electric jacket liner, along with electric heated gloves, plugged into a dual controller that is hardwired to the tractor. I bought this gear for my motorcycle on cool days, but use it more often on the tractor than I do the bike. The nice thing about electric gear is you can wear just 3 layers, a shirt, the liner, and a wind blocking jacket if it's really windy out, and simply turn the dial to tune your comfort level. I have very rarely, if ever, kept it up to 100% power longer than a minute or two.

I use a company called "warm n safe" and have been very happy with it. There are also heated pants, and socks available if you find you need/want those.

I'm a big fan of Aramark thinsulate line overalls. The lining goes all the way up the bib and is thin but warmer than any other I have tried. They have long zippers on the legs so its easier to get your boots on and they have a zipper on the bib so you can adjust as the day and temperatures change. I have Carhart, Cabillas, and Dickies but the Aramark are far and away my favorite. After that the coat is an after thought.

I have a Gerbing and controller. How did you wire it? I don't know whether to tap into the wiring for the work lights, add something to the fuse box, or run wires back from the battery.

I wear walls insulated overalls and a thick carharrt jacket, that being said, waterproof gear is becoming a necessity. Carrhart soaks up rain and melting snow like a sponge. I work outside everyday for my job so i have acclimated some compared to how miserable i used to be outside in winter, at work i wear a safety yellow waterproof with fleece liner jacket from northern tool, it works pretty good for free considering the company bought it.

As others have suggested, coveralls or bib overalls is the most important way to go. The best jacket in the world won't keep you warm if you're just wearing jeans. Carhartt makes quality stuff and I have some old items. However, the price has gotten very high and they are going trendy. They have a company store downtown Chicago, believe it or not. I've found Berne to be a reasonable and much cheaper alternative. I think the OP was in Tennessee. I doubt you need to consider things like electrically heated clothes.

'Tis true and I've seen people sporting Carhartt logos that seem to have only recently deserted North Face.

The one Carhartt product I find indispensable is their insulated ball cap with ear flaps.
