Tired of being cold: Best, warmest jacket for farm/tractor work?

Plowing the driveway at night at -15, no chance of being too warm....

That's before the wind starts whipping it back into your face... It almost makes me envy those with a cab.

That's the only reason I traded my 4400....paid for, great tractor...but I was tired of freezing my butt off!

My father has a 4400 with removable cab... Steel roof, glass windshield and soft doors. He hasn't had it on in years though, preferring the 4wd of the Kubota.
He also likes to wait for the storm end to clean up... one of the perfect of being retired.

Mine was MFWD...and since I'm working, I couldn't always wait until the snow ended. Getting a 72" 3PH snow blower was the deciding factor for me...and although I really like my 4520 (with a Curtis Cab), if I had to do it over again, I would kept the 4400 and gone for a removable cab for the winter snows.
However, with a snow blower, it is better (IMHO) to wait until the snow ceases.

I wear a balaclava and goggles too.
Mitts also help as well in extreme cases. I kind of set a minimum temperature of -10-15C that I will start the tractor at, as I don't like idling it for so long to warm up the trans fluid to something reasonable before driving away, but a 20mph wind and snow can make even that a bit cold.
A cab would be very nice, but you can also survive quite nicely with a budget down parka, snow pants, and some good sorel -100f boots too.

When I was young and in my prime - and had to, uggg, work - I'd plow the mile long driveway at night. I found that a long tailed Eddie Bauer down coat with attached hood over a Polar Tech jacket was about the best. Man it was cold - wind whipping, snow blowing and me sitting atop my open station tractor.

Fortunately - now in retirement, I can do all this plowing in the daylight and when I feel like it. I also have Eddie Bauer down pants and down mitts to complete the cold wx outfit.

To answer some of the questions and comments: I already have a good set of bib overalls, $270 pair from Cabela's Bargain Cave that I got for $60, they work very well. As do my 800 gram Thinsulite Danner boots and wools socks. My daughter got me one of those Russian/Alaskan State Trooper fur hats last year, the one with the ear flaps: it's very warm when the weather is cold. I have a very good pair of insulated work gloves, I think they're train gloves, not sure.

As far as layering: a jacket (with liner if it's the M-65), polarfleece jacket under that, then a long sleeved shirt, under shirt, the a poly under shirt. That's five layers for the upper body (6 with the liner) and 4 for the arms. The polarfleece is warm, dry and light. But it absolutely sucks for wind resistance. So if the jackets aren't up to snuff, then the wind comes right through all the layering doesn't work as well as it should.

A nylon covered parka or ski jacket would work except that I'm worried about robustness and toughness. I'm pretty hard on my work clothes, especially the upper body, I just tear the crap out of stuff, so it needs to be tough.

So the jacket is the missing link hear, not layering, not bibs, not anything else, just the jacket. It needs to be tough, warm and wind resistant. Whatcha got?
