fortunately, since deisel in IL weighs about the same in florida.. weight to volume measurement is a moot issue. OK to measure volumetrically. ;)

It is, as long as people remember that gasoline is ~6.3lbs/gal and #2 Diesel is ~7.49lbs/gal Kerosene is ~6.68lbs/gal

which if you do the math is more like 133 gal of diesel or 158gal of gasoline. (not 120 as previously stated)

Again the federal RQ for diesel is >42 gallons on land. The state may have different requirements.

Source: HAZMAT Tech and IC, industrial ERT captain, volunteer FF captain, and countless dealings with making notifications to state and federal agencies due to my facility bring the primary point of contact for a multinational corporation.
We have a matrix of various chemicals with DOT numbers with their appropriate federal and state RQ listed that is posted above the phone where Chemtrec calls us.

Buying tanks online, looks like most suppliers are erring on safety and going 119g.

Federal RQ is 42 gallons on land or a sheen on a waterway. For the state of LA the RQ is 100 pounds.

Kinda what I thought. 99-100 gallon transfer tanks are common. I bought a 105 gallon tank at an auction a few years ago and it had a flammable placard on it. It doesn't any more! ;)
