Don't worry about the stump jumper style. They both work, The plate may be more durable as it is heavier metal. If you end up with the EA cutter, let us know. I would like to see some more pictures.

I just sent a request to EA for pics of the underside of their cutters and asked what kind of stump jumper they use.

I wouldnt get hung up on clevis style pins either. As long as the rest of the supporting metal is in order. Its not like a box blade or ripper where you are putting a ton of pulling load on the pins. Rotary cutters work just fine for many many years without the clevis style. But like I said, as long as what they are attached to is in order. The KK light duty cutters have terrible hitches. Too light, same with the light metal straps back to the tail wheel.

Pick the cutter up and you can see the whole thing flex.

Here is the EA underside of rotary cutter. That stump jumper doesn't look very tough....

NO way of seeing how thick it is either. If its 1/4" thick I dont think you would ever bend it and I think it would slide over a stump nice.

Look at Woods, Land Pride, and Bush Hog rotary cutters. Should be a good selection at your local tractor dealers.

I bought one of these Big Bee cutters 5 years ago.

I don't make any effort to take care of it. I abuse it. I cut stuff that's way too big. I store it outside. I hit stumps and rocks all the time. It just keeps working. I managed to bend the tailwheel fork after hooking it on a stump one too many times and had to replace it but otherwise it just keeps going. A 5 ft goes for $825.

I am extremely happy with my EA rotary cutter. You are even within the 1000 mile free shipping area so no need to pick it up.

I don't have a place of business that they can deliver to. In lieu of no shipping and me picking it up they will for go the tax.

I had mine delivered to my local lumber yard. I do business there all the time and slipped the forklift operator a $20 bill. Saved me many times that (I live in western Washington).

Last consideration...shear bolt or slip clutch ? I will be using this maybe 3-4 times a year. We live in the Cherokee National Forest in Tenn. Alot of small saplings, underbrush, etc. How much extra mainteance is needed forthe slip clutch/

Thanks everyone so far for all the info !

I'd go for the slip clutch. You just have to maintain spring pressure which is fairly easy. Manual gives you specs on the proper preload which is achieved by tightening nuts.

I've never had any problems out of my slip clutch on my Woods Brush Bull.
