36 and frosty heading to 62 and sunny.

Doing the Nielsen TV Diary/Survey this week. They'll probably read a few shows listed on my survey they rarely see - Wheeler Dealers is on right now.

Kev - I wish you were closer so you could make lumber from the oak logs I've been burning as firewood. Sometimes when I split one and see the beautiful grain I am sad it will be burnt, but firewood is my highest and best use for them.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 41° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 51° with rain in afternoon. Got most of the leaves cleaned up without getting Trak-Vac out. Going to my mothers house today. Latest home inspection found a leak in bathroom sink drain. Buyer is going to repair. But wants me to approve it. Funny stuff goes on when selling a house.
txdon, is that the land at gate? Nice piece of land.
Good Morning All.

Good morning. Woke up from the sound of thunder. Another big rain event. Yesterday's flooding in the Austin/San Marcos I35 corridor was crazy. Wimberley got slammed again. If only the majority of this rain would happen a bit Northwest of where it happens, the lakes would all be full and it would occur in sparsely populated areas.
Deciding on which coffee I should brew. Sucks having to drink only decaf.

Don, I guess I should have asked, At what age did you stop eating processed meats?

Good Morning

chilly morning here, 44 going up to 68 today in fair weather.
Kyle, try to find a good water process decaf; most of the decaf out there is processed with chemicals. Though I'm not sure which tastes better...
I mix one quarter decaf in with my three quarters Columbian regular. Never liked the high test version of coffee, expresso, always seemed too intense for me.
Most of the coffee I see in the supermarket is priced between five and eight dollars a pound.

Sure hope everyone is ok in Texas. Keep an eye on the radar.

Need to get some gas today, going to buy at Hess where I think it dipped under two bucks just recently. Diesel i think was 2.13
The returning a fifty pound bag of contractor's seed to the local ag store, bought too much, and will ask for a store credit where I can surely find something else I need in there, like chain saw oil or something, bird seed for sure. And then off to the Kubota dealer where they will get my pull behind DR string trimmer/mower to sell which I used for less than one hour. It took fifteen minutes to see it did not work well, at least on my fencing. Plus over time it would probably put a lot of wear on that white plastic. So a 700 dollar great idea turned out to be a poor one, and maybe I'll get 300 back on a sale. I rarely get rid of equipment but if I'm just not using it, and it takes up valuable floor space, it has to go.

Have a nice weekend everyone

Kyle, why only decaf?

I get weird dizziness or something "tingly" that brings on anxiety if I drink too much. I've pretty much cut it out of my diet. An occasional glass of tea or a soda maybe once every few weeks. I can have 1 cup of half decaf/half regular if it is not brewed too strong. But every now and then my wife will sneak a bit too much regular coffee into the mix and it gives me the tingles. She brews coffee so strong, you can float a horseshoe on it.

Diabetes is tough. Hope you can control yours with diet. I don't have it now, but many in my family get it in their latter years. My mom controls hers with diet. Mainly cutting way back on sweets. I don't think I could live without carbs for long.

Drew, I will look into that water processed coffee. I am not that big of a coffee connoisseur. (I had to let google correct that spelling for me this early in the morning.) :)

Sounds like she would like my coffee.

I drink decaf sometimes, and Drew is right, the SWP (Swiss Water Process) method of removing the caffeine tastes better to me. I roast my own coffee, so I order certain coffees as SWP. I haven't looked on any bags in the store to see the process they use.

A big grocery chain down here sells specialty coffees and one of my favorites is Southern Pecan Decaf. But it costs about $9-$10 per pound.

Thanks for the thought Wngsprd, but to be honest I have a tendency to be a bit of a hoarder when it comes to wood. Once it cools off around here I will have more time to spend in the shop. And Christmas is coming. I have gifted things I made since I was 13 and I will be hitting 61 at the end of the year.

Yes Kyle, that is exactly what I am trying to do. How long has your Mom been at it?

I understand Buppies, but if I can beat it before it happens with some change I am going for it. Gout, sorry to hear that. I understand that is very painful.

60 right now going to 86.

The guy with the cow has let us down again. I told him to send our deposit back to us. We were to pick her up in Oct, now he is saying he can't get her till Nov. We will be out of town every weekend (and some weeks) in Nov at horse auctions. So the hunt for zebu cows is back on.

Good morning! 67˚ Thunder and rain as another line of yellows and reds pass by.

Ron, yes, that is the land behind the gate in the back.

(Rant for Kyle - rest of ya'll can skip, except for the new studies on Parabens - make sure your wife gets rid of them.)
Kyle, about a half decade, maybe longer I did not mark it on the calendar. My diet change was gradual, too gradual. I did not have a Dr. who took nutrition seriously, later I learned they have no education in nutrition only how to diagnose, do specific procedures and order prescriptions. I had to seek out the doctors who cared enough to find out that preventive/reversal medicine means more than everything in moderation. because, believe me, moderation does not work. The doctor that says "moderation kills" is the truly educated doctor - he knows how Americans eat. (Cardiac rehab is full of REPEAT moderates.)

These 800 studies WHO looked at have been around a while. Now we see how much processed meats, and a lesser degree red meats, stimulates cancer cells besides slowly clogging up arteries. There are other things besides food that causes cancer - just last week they found that parabens trigger the estrogen receptors by turning on genes that caused breast cancer cells to proliferate, the effect was significant up to 100 times for women who have a specific gene. My wife just got rid of her products (mostly moisturizers) that contain Parabens. When so many people get cancer (second leading cause of death) you know it is something we are putting on, eating or breathing.

Don, I have learned more about nutrition in the last month than I have known my whole life, it is just not taught. I have also learned a lot about Eastern Medicine vs Western which again is not something that is taught over here. Thanks to the internet and Amazon (books) it is easy to research. I have also noticed that Nutrition teaching can be swayed to ones belief so you have to take the info and process it yourself. The wife is looking at going back to school for nutrition because this has opened up a whole new world for us.

38 out this AM, pastures need the sun to get the frost off! Suppose to be in the high 50's today.

I hope you all in Texas get through these rain events alright. Water is tough to deal with.

I'll be collecting wood today and making a run at the hardware store for compressor fittings and general household stuff.

Have a great day all, and weekend! Be safe.
