Any advice for chains/straps without hacking up my tractor or trailer?

I believe what they are saying is that the backhoe bucket itself must be strapped, to keep it from articulating or swinging out of position...

Almost, the hoe is an attachment. Or more simply the arm on the tractor would be free to move in an accident possibly making things worse. If it can move it must be secured. Both buckets need to be lowered to the deck and secured.

Isn't the BH on the BX25 the entire rear assembly to include the stabilizer feet, etc? Not the bucket, not the boom, not the stick, the entire assembly is the BH. I've also seen reference on this thread to pins. A BX has 2 pins to secure the side-to-side and fore-aft movement of the entire assembly. As long as the pins remain in place the boom/bucket/stick are not going to move, right??

If you had a rear finish mower or rotary cutter attached to the 3ph, would you want it secured to the trailer?

The backhoe is an attachment. So is the fel,

If I had a finish mower that was chained or strapped down like the BH is in the pic above I would consider it secured to the trailer. I see reference above that the FEL "attachment" has to be secured, but then reference to strapping the bucket down, which is it? A new BX has a QA bucket, does strapping the bucket down constitute securing the entire FEL? I see the same reference above to strapping the BH bucket vs strapping the BH (attachment), which is it? BTW, i personally use the (4) attachment points above, a single strap on the FEL bucket, and a single strap on the BH boom. Just trying to understand how the actual law is stated. Thanks

You guys give yourselves too much credit. Doesn't matter how you interpret the law or choose to ignore it, it's is still the law.

And if you ignore it or debate it, you run the risk of having an official interpretation hand delivered to you along side of the road.

Debating this issue here is pointless.

When I rebuilt my LS XR4046HC grill guard, to protect front of tractor, I added a padeye to grill guard mounting plate. I use a twisted clevis to run tie down chain through and a straight clevis attached to rear drawbar.

To secure the FEL bucket and any attached implement I use HD straps with chain and hooks on ends.

Every place the strap is across a sharp area I can place a strap protector.

After loading tractor and getting hitch weight where I want it I chain rear of tractor with chain hooked back to itself with no load binder. Then I move tractor forward to take any slack out of the chain. I run chain thru clevis, on the grill guard, and tie down using a single ratchet type load binder on front end only.

Red Neck gives the best advice here. Rather than chastising as someone here keeps doing about "interpretaion", his is clear cut : if it can move when trailering is disrupted in some way, it needs to be fastened. Just keep all pivot points fastened as a straight line with no up and down or side to side movement..

Now I've been chastised, too. Probably scarred for life.
