Backhoe bucket under warranty?

That is really odd - Looks like it would be easily fixed but I would say it appears to be a defect. It snapped, didn't even get all bent up before letting go (judging by the photos)....
Good luck and hope they cover it!

. A typical CUT has a relief somewhere around 2400 psi +/-. A pump might go to 5000 psi or even more before something breaks.

Yes and fittings, weak hoses or whatever are likely to go well below 5000 psi

In the 24 hours on the meter, Ive used the machine to dig 5 holes to plant 5 gallon trees, two holes to bury a skunk and a raccoon, and when the bucket broke, I was digging a hole for a utility pole. The dirt here is rocky, but when I'd find a rock that wouldn't budge, I'd make the hole bigger until I could scoop it out.

I haven't used the machine for breaking concrete or pounded on anything with the backhoe. I can't see how anything I've done could be considered abuse.

Just as I thought. There isn't "more to the story" except normal usage. Mahindra should cover it under warranty and shame on them if they don't.

Here are some pics...if I can get them to upload...

In the left picture: If you enlarge the photo, it looks as though there is a hollow space that runs the length of the bucket just in front of where the bucket broke/tore.
The section of the ripper teeth on the tailgate shows a lip sticking out with rust on it on the left side.
The long ripper teeth have a mechanical edge over the lip of the bucket. :2cents:
Hopefully Mahindra will stand behind this bucket and replace it for you.

I could probably break any of these light buckets that come on these small hoes within an hour if I wanted to. So I too am curious what the dealers reason for non warranty was? Assuming at this time the answer to be abuse.
I'm not so sure
My backhoe has decent power, but I don't think it is capable of breaking my bucket.
My Rhino 85 backhoe came with an 18" bucket. The leading edge of my bucket (where the OP's bucket broke out) is 4" wide x 3/4" plate with 2"x 1/4" (or 5/16") straps running on the backside of the bucket.

Thanks for your time, opinions and affirmation folks! I hope the Mahindra rep reads this forum and sees you're all in my corner. I spent a few hours today welding it back together after grinding it out and preheating the thicker piece. Before I put it into service, I plan to gusset the heck out of it, with at least two thick straps running back from between the teeth towards the curved back of the bucket. It may be ugly, but hopefully it will compensate for my marginal welding skills and inadequate equipment (Millermatic 135). Maybe Mahindra can send me a proper stick welder for my future repairs....

You ever use it like a hammer to break concrete?

If Mahindra doesn't replace your bucket, maybe you can post your "it may be ugly" repair as a "Mahindra Special". :D

TBN has a lot of viewers and it sounds like you have been using your backhoe under light conditions. Mahindra is a quality brand and they need to provide quality customer service to you. This sounds like a rare, one of a kind defect and Mahindra will do well to just take care of you.

Mahindra or Mahindra dealers, anyone going to step up?

Never once. Just dug a few holes with it. I haven't even started on my septic system or foundation yet. I still have a lot of trenching to do for water and electrical. And my wife is even less hesitant to buy trees for me to plant, now that I have a machine to do it!!!

And to think I passed up several used JD 110s so I could get something with a warranty....sheesh!!

LD1 is a super TBN member with great advice on a regular basis. I think more than anything he was playing devil's advocate.

You seem to have just received a bad bucket. I would guess the bucket is out sourced and could have been sourced to pretty much any brand. I would not let this spoil your opinion of Mahndra as long as they or a Mahindra dealer steps up.
