Backhoe bucket under warranty?

Off subject, but after years and years of no issues, I can no longer see most of the attachments on TBN. Like the one a few posts above, it tells me there is an attached thumbnail, and then the little black box with an X in it. My system issues I suppose as I do not see anyone else complaining about it?

I sometimes get blurry images. I assume due to higher and higher resolution attachments.

I've had the same problem from my first visit to the site.

Well, my dealer says that Mahindra will not warranty the bucket, but offered to send me a replacement for the broken tooth. This is odd, because the bucket teeth are specifically exempt from the warranty as they are a wear item, but the bucket failure can only be from inadequate design or materials.

This little backhoe should not be strong enough to break itself, and if it is, Mahindra should either cover the part under warranty or specifically exempt the parts they are unwilling to cover.

Am I being reasonable?

The dealer offered to sell me a replacement for $490, but I find that an unacceptable solution.

I, like many other Mahindra owners, purchased this tractor mainly because of the warranty.

My only hope now is that the factory rep will get around to calling me back and maybe reconsider his position.

That's more than full retail. Last year I bought a 12 incher as a supplement to the bigger one that came with my tractor....it was $400.

It would be good to see a picture of the damaged bucket. If they do not cover it under warranty, generally they tell you why. Is it because it is out of warranty time wise? Do they feel it is abuse? Do they consider it normal wear? Is it an excluded item, like glass or glow plugs. Those are the sort of questions to ask.

Another option, if the dealer is capable and willing, is to see if he would repair it for you.

X2. Still waiting on a picture??? I just feel like there is more to the story.

I could probably break any of these light buckets that come on these small hoes within an hour if I wanted to. So I too am curious what the dealers reason for non warranty was? Assuming at this time the answer to be abuse.

According to my dealer, he wasn't given a reason. The factory rep said he'd call me to discuss it, but I haven't heard anything yet. I'll try to upload a pic, but basically the crack developed in the thiscker part of the bucket next to the middle tooth, and the two left teeth (from the backhoe operators seat perspective) have since busted off in one section along with the thick part of the bucket where the teeth mount to.

No backhoe should be capable of breaking the bucket if is factory equipped with in my opinion. I max out my cylinders on a regular basis on all three of my backhoes, it just is part of digging when you hit a rock, root or whatever. Even if the relief valve were misadjusted, the bucket should not fail under full pump output.

To me it would be like your front axle failing when you lift the maximum weight with the FEL. Should not happen. The underlying components should be designed to take the maximum forces the pump is able to put out. Engineering 101 in my opinion. Shame on Mahindra if they take that position. They are a good brand and should stand behind their product.
