Yes today is the day of the bombing of Pearl Harbor something we must not forget
38 this morning high of 54 later slight chance of rain

Thanks for letting me know about notifications from TBN thought it was just me

Got all leaves up execpt by heat pumps and pile in flower bed another day I guess but it does look nice and grass is really green

Went to hardware store for annual 25 percent off sale and bought four bags of bird seed fertilizer for grass around building and wind chimes. Long wait though cost me a hour and a half of no leaf blowing

Hope you feel better Toppop and nice to see you back

Starting to see lots of Christmas Lights one of my favorite times of the year

Rswyan you can come clean up my cabinets anytime you want and storage building too

32 heading to 56, maybe a shower this afternoon.

Helped my wife do the Christmas decorating outside yesterday...lots of ladder work...looks good.

Also did our annual search of the property for a Christmas tree...getting harder each year to find a suitable one. Many of those I planted 20 years ago are too big, or rubbed badly by the deer. The more recently planted ones aren't big enough...so most years we cut a naturally (bird poop) planted one. Those always seem to grow the best. But having the same Goldilocks dilemma on those - this one too small...this one too big. Well, we have one picked out and will be happy with it once it's decorated...we always are.

Glad to hear from you, Toppop...get well soon.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 43° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 62° with mostly sunny skies (Truth or Consequences, NM.). Another day of travel today. Headed to NM. Lose another hour of time. Yesterday was another good day of travel.
txdon, did not see a blue golf cart at your dealer. Your brother had a good plan staying out of the skunk infested building.
Toppop, welcome back. Retirement can be a very stressful time. I came down with shingles. Did get over it soon. Life is good today.
Pearl Harbor, is in my thoughts for the day.
Good Morning All.

46 degrees not going up much to 50, .8 rain starting shortly, sure not needed, still soft ground.
But gosh, here comes another 500 pounds of leaves. Wheeeeeee. No

Off to the liquor store to buy some hard booze for my party. I don't drink it so it will sit in a cabinet until someone does, but the nice thing is it doesn't go bad.
And since this is a drink like fishes smoke like chimneys area, that may not take too long... My mother was an alcoholic, just ruined her, and it has taken me many, many years before I could keep booze in the house. And since anyone that serves alcohol at a home party is at least partially responsible, per the plaintiff attorneys, for the health of one's guests getting home, it's a concern. No one wants to get hurt...

Well, only a two hour cocktail party, I mean how much could they drink? ;):drink::cool2:
Going to be fun, guest list now closed with seven children coming between the ages of 3 and 11. I have a special gingerale drink with Xanax in it I'm serving....for me too! :D Laid out the santa suit, looks like I should be able to do a fast change once the kids are all here. I joked with my lady friend, who knows we are not going to get romantic...that she finally will get to see me with my pants off and she really enjoyed that. I saw a little elf twinkle in her eye...

Off to Dollar General or Family Dollar or whatever, doesn't seem to matter...all the same stuff there, to get more pencils and stuff for each child's gift bag. I kidded my one friend whose son is the oldest, at 11, that Santa might drop some condoms in his son's bag. That got a great reaction, a lot of laughing and finger wagging.
Actually, nerf balls and the like going in that bag.

Toppop, glad you're retired, hope you got the free Viper, and glad to have you back.

The day should be remembered all for itself, it needs no dilution,
but part of me wanted to put a pic of the burning remains of the Twin Towers
next to the burning remains of Pearl Harbor.
America burning, people dying.
And for what?
The dreams of crazy people.

But then if I had a family in Dresden or Tokyo, I might have felt the same.

Christmas thankfully reminds us of the importance of peaceful thinking. Seems to calm the world down.
Though maybe not in certain parts.
Pearl Harbor was still a pretty raw memorial event while I was growing up in the 50's. Lot of people around who had lived through it, including my Air Force father and my naval captain uncle. But as that generation has died off, and it's now their kids who remember, the event seems just like a day in the history books to many.

Well, never forget. We have seen man's inhumanity to man and we must reduce it.
We really aren't very civilized as a dominant species of this planet.
So Christmas is a good time to reflect on how we can do our own tiny little part.

sorry, off my soapbox it appears.
thankfully, like a good dog, we can always trust our tractor.
ho ho ho

Good evening. Am i the only one that hates the christmas car commercials, like lexas and mercedes?

Nope. But with a DVR, relief is just a few button pushes away.

I did the luxury car thing. Once. Quickly found out what a money pit one of those things is and got rid of it. But I guess some folks need one to prop up their egos. I'd rather have a nice tractor. Pays for itself every time I drive it.

42 this morning and headed to 52 today. Really nice out. Only warming all week. 70 by weekend.

Today is a decide as I go day. Have some more feed trays to pickup and get 2 barns ready to migrate tomorrow, but other than that we'll have to see what the day throws my way. Do need to get the new protein tubs out of my truck.

May take a play out of RS's handbook and work on cleaning house for the wife. Although I have to becareful how much I do as it'll become expected.

Yes, remember Pearl Harbor.

Either this global warming thingy is happening, or our weather has got lost - if anyone finds it, can we have it back please ?

Not much doubt global warming is happening, but I'm not convinced yet it's man made. Very suspicious when all the so called solutions seem designed to make someone else a lot of money at our expense...

Careful there Farmer, do a nice job but not too good, and try to break something insignificant. you don't want to get invited back to the party too often...;)
and you will earn a great big kiss for your efforts I hope.

I'll agree to that. Plus take a look back at the history of weather. Weather records are only a little over 100 years for many places. Some 200. And we are having 1/500 year storms. How do they know? Plus wasn't it about 50-70 years ago there was concern about another ice age. Now we're warming and going to flood. The temperature of the planet is constantly changing. I'm not saying we don't have a hand in it but we're not solely responsible either.

Other countries that have higher total emissions aren't on board. So it seems we are a row boat trying to change the course of a cruise ship.

Soapbox passed.

I already here the old. "But you're home all day!" As if I do nothing else.

Try not to do too good a job, Farmer. Most'll find something to criticize anyway, and if it's too good not much chance of getting fired.

I've been trying to get fired for 10+ years. Hasn't worked yet. Never give up.

Good Morning! 53F @ 6:00 AM. Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 61F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph.

Looks like somebody left the storm door open, as a series of Pacific storms is due to start Wednesday, bringing as much as 1-3 inches of rain to the valleys and a couple of feet of snow to the mountains. That should make the skiers and boarders happy, and we could sure use the rain and snow pack.

George Santayana said 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' Tragedies like Pearl Harbor, 911 and now San Bernardino show us that evil is still alive and well in the world, even though a lot of our so called leaders would like to put their heads in the sand and hope it goes away on its own.

Congratulations on your retirement Toppop! Hope your recovery is rapid and you stay healthy in the New Year.

Paperwork this morning, then sneak out for another motorcycle ride this afternoon. The spark plugs were a nice tan color when I looked at them yesterday, so carb settings must be pretty close. The valve clearances did close up when the head studs were re-torqued, but that's to be expected. Hoping to get it good and hot today to help them settle down, but with temps only in the 50s it's going to take some effort.

Hope everyone gets off to a good start on the new week!

Cripes, another double post. Tricky to get rid of the duplicate, too. Need to click "Edit Post", then the Delete Post button in that screen, and remember to hit the little Delete Message radio button over on the left side, but leave the text box below it and the Reason for Editing one both empty.

And now the email notifications for new posts have stopped here, too. More signs of the approaching Apocalypse!

35.2F and sunny @ 09:30 with lots of frost on the ground ... headed up to a high of 46F for the day.

Mild weather for the rest of the week, with the high temp on Saturday predicted to reach 68F ...

Have some dishes in the dishwasher to put away and then see if I can find some boxes in the basement that are small enough to use to start packing up the excess junk from the kitchen.

Have some paperwork to do as well.
