Just woke up, fell asleep after dinner ...
Got everything run thru the dishwasher, except for one last load, before I ran out of detergent. Managed to get rid of three partial bottles dishwasher soap ... two of which someone had used about 3/4 of, then decided they didn't "like" that particular brand ... about 10 years ago ...
Also got the Sunbeam mixer cleaned up and detailed out ... still have to find a screw to replace the one that was missing that holds the little cover for the light bulb socket on, and replace the bulb, which was also MIA.
Took the Rival 4 slice toaster apart and ran all the plastic pieces through the dishwasher, and then blew out the rest of it with compressed air. Only two of the slots heat up ... no obvious breaks in the nichrome wire in the two slots that don't work, and there is a circuit board involved ... so I'm not too hopeful on fixing that. I think we have a two-slice unit here somewhere ... if so, the four-slice job will get dumped.
Next up is the Hamilton Beach Cookbook Blender ... IIRC, there was a shock issue with that ... so I'll have to disassemble it, and find out what is going on there. The blending jar - which is a plastic replacement for the original - isn't in great shape ... plastic is cloudy/cracked and the rubber lid feels like it is going south (is sticky even after washing, is discolored)
Was surprised to find out that parts appear to readily available, including the glass jar/pitchers ... which is kinda impressive for a 40+ year old appliance. Apparently the same part was used on multiple models. Made many a milkshake and malt with it back in my youth
Have a bunch of (washed) plastic containers I need to marry up the lids on and put away here in a bit ... counter surfaces in the kitchen are starting to reappear, slowly but surely.
There's still a significant number of things left to do, to really get a fully completed product:
1. Clean exterior of kitchen cabinets, walls, ceiling. Amazing how tenacious airborne cooking grease can be once it settles on surfaces, particularly after any volatile components evaporate. Acetone works pretty well, not so great for some finished surfaces (wood) tho' ... mostly have been using a product The Woman picked up, mebbe at Dollar General, called "Totally Awesome" which is pretty impressive.
2. Pull stove out and clean under/behind it. Also clean out the oven.
3. Clean out the one remaining junk drawer. Probably 50% to 75% of the stuff in there can be stored elsewhere. Most of it likely wound up in there because it was an easy place to toss it.
4. Cut and install shelf/drawer liners in all cabinets and drawers. Have the material, just need to do it.
5. Pick up two "cool white" 8' T-12 bubs and replace the two "warm white" bulbs, so all four bulbs match.
6. Clean and oil the kitchen table and chairs.
7. Clean the windows, inside and out. Ought to be able to get that done this coming weekend when the temp warms up.
8. Wash the floor. This one The Woman will have to do ... she has her very own special way of doing it and it works really well - no water spots or streaks.
If I can get all or most of that done, I should have racked up substantial brownie points.
Whether it's 125 gallons worth remains to be seen ... :laughing:
