A single lid would hold that load just as well. You make contact with part of the load and that holds the rest in place. I've never had ANY object or objects that I couldn't clamp with a single lid.

Do you think your hand would be more useful if you had two thumbs?

With two thumbs, you could open it with one hand instead of two! :laughing:

The jaws on a grapple just keep the load from falling forward. Same as using your hand to scoop and lift a bunch of stuff. So long as your four fingers support the weight of the load, the thumb just stabilizes it. No benefit to two thumbs.

I got to thinking on the two thumbs theory, food for thought, however, you don't miss what you don't know or have. I think in the grand scheme of things for the times it may make a difference, you would be on the next task without even thinking about it. I will be happy just to have a grapple , period!
