So are bib overalls a southern thing? i thought it was a blue coller worker thing?

I see people wearing overalls from time to time but they are usually older men. I wear oversals sometimes in the winter, too danged hot to wear them in the summer, but I am not "older.":laughing::laughing:

Dan

The Civil War, the second one that is, only ended in that the shooting stopped. The reason behind the Second Civil War still exists and is getting worse.

Being a Yankee and moving South is ok. What is a problem is when a Yankee moves south and is a Carpet Bagger. My county is full of them and they want to make our county just like the scat hole they made and left behind up Nawth. What is ironic is that the Yankees elect people who they rail against. Danged if I can understand it.

Later,
Dan

You need to learn what a carpetbagger was. Carpetbaggers came south to exploit it economically and politically, they didn't come down to change Southern culture or generally to become permanent residents. And yes, they were mostly Republicans. Perhaps you should save your ire for the Scalawags, southerners who cooperated with Washington's efforts to rebuild southern politics.

I've never owned a pair of overalls but I gotta say they look comfortable. No belt. Pretty "relaxed". A little extra warmth in winter and without a shirt a little cooler in the summer. I can see it.

Welcome, mbo! I'm from Georgia, been all over the world, now live in Mississippi. It is great here for retirees. I'd say check this state out very seriously. Worse thing for ye hound will be ticks. Get a Soresto collar, done with them nasty buzzards. You WILL be from NYC, or you'll be a native Mississippian. I have two friends here, both from NYC, been here over 40 years. They love it.

Mississippi is not called the Hospilitality State for naught.

I find it interesting that you hear lots of Southeners telling jokes about Northerners but in my 5yrs up here I've never heard a joke (or even a derogatory comment) about Southerners.

Agree. Ethnic jokes are pretty common up here but Southerners are really not the target of many jokes. I'm pretty sure all Redneck jokes are written in the South. The only time we even repeat Redneck jokes is when some Southern politician does something outrageous.

I hate them. Only poor kids wore them when I was growing up, and when I got big enough to work and buy my own clothes I swore I would never buy another pair...ever. They do have built in AC; just unbutton the top side button

That's about right. You also don't hear much of a southerner saying, "Hey, just two more years until I can retire. Can you guys up north tell me a good place in maybe Illinois, New York, or Minnesota?"

You are correct, retirees who are tired of toe to toe combat with Jack Frost head south. However we do notice quite a few Southerners who choose to come north on vacation in the summer. Wonder why?
