BX magnetic engine heater

Don't forget: rear work lights, spacers, piranha bar, tool box, loaded tires, a cab for winter snow removal, and adjustable 3-pt hitch.

Hold the phone Batman - the dealer just called me back and said the unit he has is an in line heater, not a block heater, and that is what Kubota recommends using on my model due to space restrictions. So .....now I need help on the install of that style if anyone knows?

Put a freeze plug block heater on my BX2230, the dealer is just trying to move his stock, half your heat will be going out the radiator where the freeze plug will put all your heat into the block.

Apparently mid way through 2005 Kubota switched from a D905 to a D902 motor. Is it possible that they work in the older motors but not the newer ones? Take a look at Junkman's post - 7th one on this page:
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/46529-bx2230-block-heater.html

Egon has some interesting points on in line heaters as well further into the thread. I don't want to stick something in the tractor that Kubota doesn't recommend when I just bought the rig either, ya know? He did say he would sell me a block heater - but that it wasn't recommended - so I don't think he just needs to move stock.

Edit - I will take the cowl off tonight and see which unit looks easier to install.

Have a BX2230 with a D902 engine and have the box for the kit part #

70000-00771 and says for Kubota engines with a 25mm freeze plug.

Have seen the BX TLBs with the D905 and maybe BX2200 but have yet to see a BX2230 with the D905.

That's good info - thanks David. I'll take a look under the hood tonight

Here it is. Engine is definitely a D902-E. I cannot see where you could possibly put an inline heater on this. To me, it looks like the block heater should be alot easier. I assume it would be the leftmost circle in the photo closest to the front of the machine?

Sorry to hog the forum. Here is a pic of where to drain the radiator. Too bad cuz the dealer just changed it a couple hours ago.

1) Is there a way to save the fluid and re use it, or is that stupid?
2) Any way to drain it neatly, or just open it up and let her go?
3) What is water to antifreeze ratio?

sorry - and thanks for any help.

Front plug on left side of machine, clean oil and antifreeze off, says to use a 1" socket to drive in and put Loctite on it to help seal and keep in. Cover electrical connection with tape and paint with high temp paint, I used Rustoleum Protective Enamel Gloss Charcoal Gray, our local ACE carries it and matches pretty good. Install cord use zip ties to keep away from hot or moving parts, add coolant mix and run engine to open thermostat and burp the system.
