This is just my opinion, but I love the north, love snow, love frost on the ground, love the leaves turning. Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer--- in that order. Guess there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME.
NY will always be my home, But after many, many years of brutal winters with 200" plus snowfall, taxes like you wouldn't believe, laws being passed in the middle of the night, and a devastated economy, it's time to go.
We will miss the beautiful summers, the Adirondack mountains, and the many moods of Lake Ontario. We will not miss a solid month of below zero temperatures, frozen pipes, and endless shoveling. I own THREE snowblowers, one of which is 5' wide for my tractor. The dog can walk up onto the garage roof by spring here.... no joke!
The last house we sold had $9000 per year in taxes, no city water/sewer, no cable tv, no gas, and we plowed our own roads when the town trucks broke down...What were we paying for? NO services.....:grumpy: And now another place we work is shutting down..... No sir, We are happy to go. Just feel bad for our friends who have to wait till retirement to go.
