what on earth does electricity cost near you?

Below are the details of my last bill. I pay as much for elect. as I do for all the other charges.
So when I do the math sorting out all the ways they charge me for the same electricity I come up with 11.2521 cents per kw. USD

Taxes and all fees plus electric comes to .14 1/2 cents per kWh Everything in my home runs with electricity everything my annual electric bills total between 2200.00 to $2400 per year. Sometimes I wish I had gas but I don't thing Id really save anything.

Stop and think about cable tv bills for a second...
For starts, that requires the electricity to even work, but really, a lot of people pay as much or more for cable! That's a bad joke.
Think about it...Early cable was almost advertisement free. Now your PAYING to watch something 30-40% of the time is littered with something YOU should be paid for by them.

Dropping a cable or sat feed is relatively easy (did that here years ago). I see zero or negative value in tv programming today.

Dropping the grid takes a lot more time/money/effort to do (a long term goal of mine)..... so your point is well taken.

I don't have an issue paying a utility fair value for goods/services received. I do take issue with a corrupt govt propping up their out of control deficit financing by holding people hostage over an essential service.

Must be all gas appliances and heat to be that low. We paid an average of 19.67 cents per Kwhr in October. 98Kw hr per day average for the month on a house and a couple of lights in the shed.

Yeppers. We cut the cord years ago because it was such a waste of money. We talked for years about cutting the cord but simple inertia kept us from making the call. What a waste of money. Even with our very slow DSL of 1.5mb down we still are able to stream multiple feeds. The wife and I watch very little tv and usually only on the weekend. The TV has not been on since Sunday. We have plenty of programming on YouTube to watch much less Amazon and Netflix. Heck, I don't think we have watch anything on Amazon or Netflix in months. The kids have but we have been watching stuff on YouTube. I found some shows that will take us years to watch.

Historical Electricity Prices | OEB

Direct kwh prices here have effectively doubled in the last decade. If my income had done the same, I wouldn't be looking at this.

Like most graphs, the first derivative (trajectory) is often the most important (and, in this case, scary) part.

As of my last hydro bill; I used 630.1584 kw hrs of electricity and it cost me $179.84. do the math.....I've got it as $0.2853/kw hr. The money I pay out is divided by the kw hrs that is all taxes, delivery charge (which is more than the cost of the juice), debt retirement charge (read that as tax grab), and don't forget the hst (hose the citizens tax). The fun part is that we cannot pick the hydro up ourselves to save the delivery charge.

On my last bill, the effective kwh rate calculates as 18.8 cents/kwh, Canadian. (Wrong, too low).

Took the final bill, subtracted HST (that's just "normal" govt gouging here ), then divided by total # kwh used.

At the moment the shell-game Clean Energy rebate is in that bill. Once that's gone, that bill would be 21.2 cents/kwh Canadian. (Wrong, too low).

This bill, hand calculated:
14.5% On-Peak
13.0% Mid-Peak
65.8% Off-Peak

That only totals 93.3% !

Totaled kwh printed on the bill does not agree with the 3 tier break-down.

Once I manually total the 3 tiered amounts, I actually paid 20.1 cents/kwh Canadian. <<<<< Correct <<<<<
