VERY nicely done!

A lot of work for sure, but that old beast will last a long time now.

I really like how you managed that entire process in an ordinary shop with pretty much basic tools and a good deal of ingenuity.

I particularly like the magnet idea for balancing. I don't believe that would have ever occurred to me. It's filed away for future reference.

Excellent job. I am always amazed and impressed with the skills, knowledge and just plain spunk and determination of tractor-by-neters.

Keep it up; I can only hope and dream of being able to accomplish such work. But, love reading the stories of great projects.

Well done.

Very nice job, shows great skill and patience. I destroyed my impeller getting it off the shaft. Had to replace both shaft and impeller. Didn't know how to square up and re-balance fan. Good picture story too.

I also need to add my compliments for both a good job and a great write up.
But then that's good Canadian ingenuity.

Looks like an early version of my JRW. Auger is made exactly the same. Fan looks the same except mine does not have the small angle iron bracing between the four paddles. The chute is different. The rear bracing and gear box area looks exactly the same, too..

[ I shrunk my snowblower, but I did not shrunk the deputy..... ]

JRW was in southern Ontario. They closed down a few years ago when they decided not to update their paint system to keep making stuff.

JerryK,
Like your chute rotation setup.

Homemade using a small electric winch... I ran it with a homemade crank on my JD.

herringchoker, Great job on your three point snow blower, the talent that we have here on TBN never ceases to amaze me. That snow blower should last a long time and give you good service. So far I have only had to plow driveway once this year as no heavy snow has arrived in Upstate NY, my snow blower still sits in carport waiting foe heavy snow.

Great project. I just bought a used Pronovost and as I'm sure is common on most of these blowers I found that to truly drain the gearbox oil you must remove the fan then gearbox to turn it sideways to drain though the common fill/drain hole. Or lift the whole thing up sideways I suppose. The oil was obviously contaminated with some water so I took the opportunity to remove the fan and gearbox. Unlike yours mine came off with a hydraulic puller after a standard puller failed. I'm very glad I took the time to get it off, cleaned up, and lubed up to avoid the problems you have. These machines are so simple that for probably an hour or two every couple of years you can completely disassemble the thing to make sure the parts don't fuse together.
