The blurry line between CUT and UT???

I would say that any tractor which requires at least on step for mounting is not an SCUT. A B26 is just a bit too high for an over the hill person to mount without a step which is what you have to do to get on from the right hand side.

I consider an SCUT to be just one half step above a riding lawnmower. NOW let the flaming begin.
LOL...
Ok say maybe the real answer IS the amount of steps ?! Are there any CUT's out there that have two steps? Likewise, are there any UT's out there with only one step?

Lots of CUTs with cabs have two steps right?

Tractors have steps now? Old farmers must have had very long legs.

I vote front wheel size (in 4wd AG tire configuration).

20"+ rims is UT
anything under is CUT

This would mean DK50se and smaller, all the NX and DK10 series are CUT's. And the DK55se and larger, All the RX and PX series are UT.

For kubota, all the L's and MX's in their current line is CUT. All the M's are UT's

Deere (an this is actually how they have them listed), All 4x are CUT and all 5x and larger are UT

Massey....dont list tire specs. So only looking at pictures. They list 1700 series as CUT and 2600 and 2700 series as UT. And am betting that the front R1 tires on the 1700's are 16's, and the 2600's and 2700's get either 20's or 24's.

For new holland (their models are a bit confusing and no tire specs listed) but appears that all the Workmaster series and T4 and larger are UT, and all the boomers are CUT's. The exception is a "workmaster compact" which is ofcourse a compact

LS is as listed on their website. XJ, G, XG, and XR are CUT. K, XU, and P are all UT's.

Seems most of the MFG's that do differentiate on their websites, like Deere, LS, Massey, All of what they call CUT gets 16" fronts. All the UT's get 20" or more.

Oooh good point

Front tire size is how I refer to them regardless of HP, weight, or any other capabilities. Because regardless of all of that, larger fronts typically means larger frame size, and most certainly means a smoother ride rolling over rough terrain.

IE: JD has a 66HP (4066r) CUT that is fairly light @ ~4000# and a 45HO (5045) UT that is a good bit heavier. HP is Absolutly NOT an accurate way of measuring.

Weight isnt a real good measure either. But if it were, I'd say the number would be closer to 5k. Below being CUT, above being UT. And this may be a more viable determining factor than I though. Since I am having a hard time finding a tractor with 20"+ rims under 5k, and likewise not seeing any 16" rim fronts over 5k.........hmmm

Havent looked at anything mahindra yet. Them are good comparisons IMO though, as they all seem to be lots heavier than the rest

I refer to my 2005 DK45S as a UT but is actually a grey area because I have Cat II lower arms and a Cat I upper link from the factory.

I think of the DK45S is a beefy CUT. And the DK55 is a UT. The DK45S sits on a narrower platform, is shorter, has smaller tires, is lighter compared to the DK55. I don't really like the size of the balls as a criteria because you can put a Cat 2 link on a BX but it doesn't make it a UT.

Front rim size really does seem like the best criteria and I'd say it applies to the standard R1 rims. You can get some squat rims for turfs on a UT but that doesn't count.
