What do you do when that size tree falls across your trail in the woods?
I would do the same thing as in the thread starter, with the Gorilla Grapple, it would take several bites to cut through it, since it is bigger.

I'd like to see the Versahandler deal with the rest of this 42" tree without a chainsaw. View attachment 453596 That log alone was about 4,000 pounds maybe more. Not a chance the cool Versahandler could have lifted the whole tree and root ball.
I have only had one tree that I could not pick up. I drug it out of the way and used the fork tips to knock the clay out of the root ball until I was able to take it to the burn pile.

Your gorilla grapple can cut a 20" or larger tree? That must be efficient. I'm guessing the tree it wouldn't lift wasn't nearly as big as the one on the forklift. I have had another tree that wasn't hardly as big at 36", but heavier since it was oak and taller. They were both well over your lift capacity.

I do have a chainsaw and sometimes necessary but that's my last choice of tool to get a tree moved. I had a crew of loggers at my place and I was surprised at how little they used a chainsaw. Seen them work for days and never crank one up so I guess they think like I do. Since I don't cut firewood anymore I use a $150 homelite. My uncle loves his 372 XP shssss I think he sleeps with it.:) at $900 I probably would too.

How did the Loggers work for days without using a chainsaw??? What did they use to fell trees and cut out the logs??

I think, to quote a favorite movie of mine (Cool Hand Luke), "what we have here is a failure to communicate". :)

xfaxman, as to your tree puller picture, I can match that picture with an $18K tractor/FEL and homemade tree puller. :)

I wanna see video of any attachment "snipping" a 24" tree in two?? I also wanna see video of any attachment yanking a 24" hardwood tree out of the ground and carrying it away??

How long did the loggers work with using any machinery? Let alone some cool a Bobcat.

It could, by taking several small bites. It has over 37,000 pounds of squeeze together pressure at the tips of the tines. It can break 4" thick concrete easily, so it wouldn't have a problem with a tree.

That must be efficient.
No that would be very inefficient.

--------- They were both well over your lift capacity.

I tried to measure the lift at the SSQA, but the crane scale went to overflow at 5,001 pounds.

I am not a logger, I have no need for a chainsaw.

I have no reason to snip a 24" tree in two.

I don't yank 24" hardwood trees out of the ground, I just push them over, and carry them away.

This dead one was over 24":

The trees were well over 5,000 pounds. When a hauled off the oak tree I over loaded my 10K trailer and hauled a second load with nearly that much. I would be very surprised if it could push over a healthy 24" tree. I'm sure axelhubs Massy could do it though. Just ask him.

37,000 pounds at the tip? How big is the cylinder on that thing? What is it made for?

There is no way. A 4" bore cylinder only generates about 37,700. pounds of force and it isn't pushing straight down. The lift cylinder in your machine is probably larger than 4", and is sure doesn't lift 37,700 pounds. I have used a full sized tehandler, that had a 6" lift cylinder. Unfortunately it didn't come anywhere close to lifting 87,400 pounds. It did lift nearly 50 feet high which was beyond sweet.

The same machine most all loggers use a tree cutter. A lot quicker than felling with chain saw. Skidders would gather the trees and take them to the de-limber then drop them at the loader. The loader would place the tree on a cutter located on the same trailer but at the other end from the loader. There it would be cut and ready to load on a trailer. Nobody had to crank up a chain saw. Not good pictures but you can barely see the cut off shear just above the tallest stack of logs. Lots of days they only used 4 men. 1 on the cutter, 2 on the skidders, 1 on the loader. When they had several trailers loaded is when the drivers would take over but the drivers brought their trucks and hooked to the loaded trailers. No trucks with drivers sitting around waiting. Pretty effecient outfit.

There was a long time between the first fellerbuncher, and when the cross cut saw was retired.

My dad was raised doing the cross cut and set up the circular saw mill wherever the trees were. There's still a few of the areas left around here if you look hard for signs. That hard work might be some of the reason for his longevity he's 85 and still climbing trees for deer hunting. If I can I let the machines do the work:) Just wish I could afford a machine for every situation I might run into wonder how many it would take?

For me and my situations on our 80 acres, just one and a lot of attachments.

I guess i should have stated in the first post that I don't have a rotating tree shear and the trees are too close together to pull the dead tree out sideways. :confused3:
:confused3: ... I would have just found a likely spot it wouldnt fit thru and pushed thru to break it.

I would have bucked it into firewood and hauled out the logs, and then came back for the brush.

Wait a minute! You have at least 4 machines. Plus one train load of attachments.
