Sounds like you are on the way. If the fire brick is complicated note the order they come out so they go back the same way. (Expierience)

Patience, use of leverage and plan, not brute force and your away.

Man I could have used one of those Stair Kings to move that dang PBX up those stairs. I was the man on the bottom. Use machinery whenever possible.. Work smarter not harder..

Yeah, the price of the Stair King rental was way better than back surgery. It's probably hit or miss if your local rental has one but man was it a slick piece of equipment.

I'll second that on the order of the firebrick. If you forget you may have to break the cardinal rule of DYI and actually (GASP).... read the manual!!!!

I hated to say it.

I still think a tree boom would be a safe and effective way of lowering a heavy object down a set of bulkhead stairs so long as the tractor can drive up to the bulkhead. Just do a good job of strapping or chaining the stove.

I really like that tree boom. I have no use for one, but wouldn't mind having one anyway.

You'd be surprised how often it comes in handy. Like having a miniature crane at your disposal. I bought mine but it would be a very easy thing to fabricate if you start with a store bought SSQA plare.

The OPs tractor loader specs... Lift to full height at pin - 1146 lbs Lift to full height at 500mm - 827 lbs (that's about 20"). Stick a boom pole a couple feet out and he won't be able to lift the stove off the ground.

Exactly. Need a much heavier tractor for a boom pole!
