Canned Gasoline?

I used to buy a can of the Stihl premix whenever I had a $5/$10 coupon from my local Ace, that way the price was a lot more reasonable. I keep it on hand for emergencies, so that I don't need to worry about having fresh fuel on hand all the time. Has come in handy more than once.

Lately, I have been buying ethanol free gas every few months from a place 15 miles away (also where I fill up my off road diesel tank). That stuff I am less worried about keeping around than ethanol gas, so there is less of a need to have the cans of premix.

BTW, save the empty cans of premix -- they are great as small gas containers when sawing on the job. Can keep one nearby very easily, even if you have to walk a ways into the woods. I know some guys that hang a can off their belt!

I just get a gallon of non-ethanol when I'm going near a station that sells it. Problem solved for about $2.65

NOT everyone has that option, also I won't run anything but premium gas in my saws, and not all "non" E gas available, is premium.

I have used Trufuel for 5 seasons in my weedeater and gas blower. Never turned a nut, bolt or screw on either one. They sit for 5 months out of the year, I hit the priming bulb a couple of times and they fire right up. One trip to the repair shop will buy a lot of Trufuel. It has saved me money. I am a homeowner with one acre and understand that for a landscaper, it would be cost prohibitive.

No ethanol free stuff around here. The overpriced canned stuff is a better cheaper option for my seldom used small engines than frequent carb rebuilds. The extra cost is worth it for just not having to constantly fiddle with the dam things to keep em running close to right.

I've used Truefuel, Husqvarana brand, and stihl's motomix without issue. Unless you have really low use, I feel the premix too expensive to run year round, I use it for winter storage only. I drain and refill my equipment with the premix, run em a bit, then store for the winter. My Stihl KM130 and BR600 won't get any use from the end of leaf season until well into spring. Occasionally my 562XP will get pulled out to clean up some storm damage, but will otherwise sit. Have been doing it this was for several years now, they always start up nice and easy in the spring!

Me too, but I got tired of annual carb rebuilds after ethanol contaminated gas did naughty things to them, even after draining them for the winter.

I bought a 5 gallon can (4-3/4 gal of liquid) of Husqvarna fuel the other day, as it was on sale. It was much cheaper than buying all those small cans. (I just refill the small empties that I already have, from the 5 gal. can)

WHY? Because I've bought two new chain saws in the last month or so, and I wanted to run AT LEAST 5 tanks of it in each saw before polluting them with E gas!

IF I have any warranty problems, chances are, it will be within 5 tanks and I don't have to be worried anyone will blame the problem on E gas!

Another thing, I have several chainsaws, some don't get used much and those get canned fuel. The others get put on canned fuel for the last half tank of fuel they will be run, before being stored for any length of time.

Canned fuel is EVPENSIVE, but keep in mind, it already has "premium" oil in it, is 95 octane! AND, has a shelf life MUCH longer than gas!
