My goto when mixing is Rittenhouse (Bottled in bond).
Otherwise:
Westland
Makers Mark
Bulleit (Both the Bourbon and their Rye)
Buffalo Trace
Basil Haydens
Russel's Reserve
Grand Traverse Distillery (I'm a Michigan guy, home state props)
Wild Turkey 101
Woodford Reserve

You should be able to get most of those for pretty cheap ($20-$30 bottle) as far as whiskey goes if price is a concern. The Westland and Grand Traverse are a bit up there (nearing $70 I believe).

Still on my list to try:
Templeton
Whistle Pig

Makers Mark, I do see that one regularly. May give it a try this weekend. A couple friends have tried and really enjoyed Rebecca Creek, just can't seem to find it locally.

Bulleit is cheaper and better, though Makers is worth a try.

Collingwood, Canadian Club 100% Rye, Gibsons Finest 12yr, Crown Royal Deluxe, Crown Royal Black, Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye, Crown Royal Extra Rare, Crown Royal Confederation.Forty Creek, Forty Creek Double Barrel and 40 Creek Barrel select.
Neat or on ice. If you mix rye with pop it's either lousy rye of you don't appreciate good rye.

OK, here is my choices.

Daily is Grand MacNish, nice and smooth. A nice blend! Reasonably priced. (was told that it is a 'no brand' equivalent of a major pricey scotch (forget which)
As a special treat Caol Ila, 12 yr Isle of Islay: bit smoky but WOW.

Never seen that down this way.

I whipped up a 8oz flask full using Makers Mark and Rumple Minze. Will report back tomorrow after feeding cows.

Well, was it the best thing since warm outerwear on a cold day, or is SnoShoe Grog an acquired taste best left to Minnesotans stuck on a frozen lake somewhere?

Ended up taking a few test nips last night and was impressed. The Rumple Minze cools what little bite the Makers had and they compliment each other well.

I will admit that bourbon and peppermint didn't sound too good at first but I have a buddy that drinks Jack with Mountain Dew and that sounds even worse.

I went out this morning and despite being 15*F it was sunny with no wind and was actually very pleasant. Took a few sips of your grog, checked the tractor fluids, started it, had a few more, and went about feeding. An hour later all the feeding was done and I was in great shape, except my big a** ears were a bit cold even though they were under cover the whole time.

For some reason my fiancé wasn't too happy to be there by the time I was done. Funny thing is she was in the warmth of the truck and had passed on the grog. That's ok, someone had to drive us to town.
