Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #42,132
oh my morning has not started off well.
After spending a half hour fine tuning and primping the sand placement on my culvert pipe,
the driver, after careful instructions and having been here before, was told to try to get it closer to the pipe.
well, you know what? he sure did. really, really close. sigh

wrecked of course. Hook up the trailer, back to TSC and bought another pipe, back home,
cut it off, back in the ditch, cover it with sand, no way as nicely as it was before. Grrrrrrr.
Oh well, spending half an hour again tamping the sand down carefully and under the pipe, I realized that was enough fun for the day.

And the fun part finally comes now, whole big pile of ABC to spread.
Serious tractor time. yeah.

39F @ 8:00 AM. Rain showers this morning with some sunshine during the afternoon hours. High around 50F. SSE winds shifting to WSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

There are showers in the area, but so far nothing's fallen here yet. We'll have a chance for more tomorrow, then at least a week of dry weather sets in. Looks like the Blob is back with a vengeance. I don't mind, as I've got camping trips scheduled for the next two weekends. After that, though, I'll be pining for more rain.

Got the limbs cleaned off about half one of the downed trees now, and they're all lined up to be fed to the fire when the time comes. The pit sits around an old stump I tried digging out, but found that the tree was sitting on a rather large boulder and wasn't easily budged, even with my little backhoe. There's already a fair size stack of brush over it from last year, but I dare not put much more on it for fear of singeing nearby trees when it burns. Better to pile them on slowly and let them burn down over the course of a day.

The tractor has been slow starting lately, and wouldn't start at all yesterday after a night on the charger. Ended up jump starting it off the RTV, then getting it up to the house to take a closer look. The battery failed a load test, so it's in the back of the truck so I can take it to town later for a replacement. That's the third battery this winter that's needed replaced. The price of too many toys I guess.

Looks like Phil missed his shadow this morning in Punxsutawney, so maybe summer'll be here sooner than expected. Say, I wonder if any o'them tophatters ever got bit by that ol' groundhog?

What part of "DON'T RUN OVER THE PIPE" didn't he understand?

If it were me, Drew, I'd be sending the bill for the replacement to that driver's boss.:smiley_aafz:

When I hit a deer in our Prius, let me correct that, When the deer ran into the front side bumper of the Prius it looked like a basketball hit the bumper it was $900 damage (new hood and headlight bracket) with $500 deductible. You don't even want to know about the rabbit in the front grill. Had to get a country vehicle because of the kamikaze wildlife. Did you have to get a new aluminum hood also?

The hood has two little buckles in it, each about 2" long. So yes, it will also be replaced. This one hit on the front left corner. Broken plastic thing where the fog light would go if her Prius C had fog lights, broke some clips where the bumper attaches under the grill and the hood damage.

Went out to drive the old Prius to town to gas it up so Margie can drive it when her car is in the shop. Dead battery. This had happened a few months ago, and it worked fine after I charged it. But Margie has been afraid to drive it. So I have had a cranking battery on order for 2 or 3 weeks now. I will run by there and have a talk with them about timeliness.

Good morning all. 46F and clear this morning after .2 in rain overnight, forecast for 63F and breezy, with the wind picking up already. Yesterday was the last of the run of 70F+ days, low 50's tomorrow then upper 50's and now rain in the 10 day forecast. Got some trees trimmed up yesterday and chain sawing done. Need to burn off the real smalls and restack the fireplace wood. Also need to do Jan. billing soon.

Hope you're feeling a little bit better, Kyle, and that bug moves on pronto. A flu shot is no guarantee you won't get sick. But if you get a strain of flu that it covers, your symptoms will be milder. But because it's impossible to put something for every strain in one shot, if one of the out liers gets you, you get a little help but not much. Even so, I still get a flu shot every year. I'm no doctor, but I've had food poisoning before, and I felt pretty much the same way you do now. You haven't been eatin' your own cookin' again, have you?

Since the urologist slapped on a low oxalate diet to combat kidney stones, my favorite nut rich granola has been replaced with plain old rolled oats. I dress it up with a sliced banana, but it's a poor substitute even though it will stick with me until lunch. The Internist has me on a low fat/cholesterol diet, so there went the eggs and buttered toast. And salt's supposed to be bad for the stones, too, so there went the bacon. Breakfasts around here just aren't the same anymore.:confused2:

Wasn't that you mentioning eating Brats and such??? :)

Maybe Prius are too quiet for the deer to hear and that's why the high incidence.

I did have a blue haired old lady in a Prius almost run over me in a grocery store parking lot one time. I didn't hear her and she didn't see me. Another foot and a half and I'd been ran over. I believe I was talking too my wife while walking to the front of the store. Aren't the cars supposed to stop or slow for pedestrians? I was so mad that if I'd had a rock, I'd have thrown it through her back window to get her attention. If I were running for president, I'd pass a law that ALL blue haired old ladies would have to have those reverse safety beepers running at all times, no matter which direction they're going. Just to give the rest of us a snowball's chance of a heads up.

Don (and Co.),

Still tickin' right along ... and no predatory fish have gotten me yet ...

Just been very busy. Appreciate the thoughts and concern tho' ...

Got new phones, so finally have a halfway decent camera.

It's still a work-in-progress, background still unfinished:

Drew. What was his thinking of running over an uncovered tile? Oh I see he wasn't. I agree tile would be coming off haul bill.
