Up early here, too.

Having a cup of coffee anyway.

Frosty and 24 outside. Had a red fox eating birdseed near the house again. This fox has a crooked tail, and easy to tell apart from other foxes. We've seen her for about 2 years, and have trail cam photos of her fox den and her kits growing up.

Prayers for RNG and the Cali folks dealing with fires.

Thank you Veterans for defending freedom!

Larro, Hope and pray things keep improving at your place everyday.

Byppies, still praying.

LS, still praying.

Have a great day, prayers sent. Ed

IF I remember my 7th grade volume formula right I think to find the volume of a cylinder it is;

My school days were long ago too and we switched from imperial units to metric while I was in high school.

Not many volumes in England are measured with good old imperial units - hardwoods from a timber yard are still sold in cubic feet, you can still buy a traditional pint of beer and after that I'm struggling to think of anything that isn't metric. Car manufacturers still quote miles per gallon, even though all the fuel pumps are in litres.

That equation for the volume of cylinder is pi x (diameter x diameter / 4) x length.

277 cubic inches in an imperial gallon (One of the rare things that is not bigger and better in America ! :))

A wet start to Sunday that is likely to continue into the afternoon.

Our 8 year old grandson is in the cub scouts and he may be in for a bit of a soaking. Their pack will be representing the youngsters of today in the annual laying of wreaths for those who lost their lives in the war that ended 100 years ago.

Have you seen the old WW1 black and white film that is been processed with modern technology ? Quite remarkable World War One footage transformed into colour by Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson - YouTube

Made me a new grill for my trusty 22" Old Smokey BBQ pit. Trying some expanded 1/16" stainless steel. Not sure if it will hold up to the heat or not, but we'll see. Stainless can/will lose it's stainless properties if heated too hot. (unless you have it in an inert atmosphere).

Kyle, you know citric acid is wonderful for passivating stainless, so which of your children would like to spend a few hours squeezing lemons over the grill ?
Or is this going to be another excuse for you to play with some more of that titanium. :)

7 and a high of 25F. Wind WNW13 mph. 60% chance of flurries.

Yesterdays snow threw a monkey wrench into the game plan. I some of the fiddly bits done here (plowing) and when I got onto the road, I got a real rude awakening. Trees down! I have never seen trees down on this road in the 24 years I have lived here. I don't carry an axe with me and I don't own a chain saw. The loader and bucket made quick work of two of them, but the third was a pita to get out. Chain on the bucket and pull in different directions and wiggle it out of the ground. It now resides in the ditch from root to top. I told the township plow driver when he came by what I had done.
I get to Sundridge to get a clean out T and the hardware store was closed, no hydro. No sale and no clean out T, so that job is on hold until Monday.

I have the new fuel pump to install today. Taking my cobbled together 12 volt pump out and putting in a proper 110 volt pump. I will use the suction pipe from the hand crank pump, so it will be one out and one in real quick, I hope. After that job is done I will probably pay for it in pain, but I have some 'stuff' that will take care of that.

Junior came out after putting the groceries away and told me he cannot find his wallet. He looked in the Dodge, no wallet. He called the grocery store and the teller had it, 'get in the truck' was all I said, and right back to Sundridge to fetch it. If it wasn't for his OHIP card (Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan) I wouldn't have made the trip until Monday.

My neighbour (77 years young) told me that he is 'leaking'. He had his prostrate out 15 years ago, I won't tell you what he told me about the results of that. The Doctor has given him pills to stop the leaking, but he gets dry mouth from them. So he drinks more liquid for the dry mouth, leaks more due to the increase in liquid intake and eats more pills to combat the leaking. And around and around it goes.:confused2:
I told him that there was only one winner in that deal and it sure as he11 wasn't him. The doctor gets a down payment on his new yacht, thanks to buddies pill script. I am almost positive the doctors in this province are taking kickbacks from the dope companies.

That is my day set up, now to conserve energy until noon, then get at it.

Have a good day all

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 27° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 37° with some sun in afternoon. Got all my projects done yesterday. :D Going to spend some time cleaning up covered trailer today. Then take some pictures of a couple of things wife wants to sell. Some NASCAR in afternoon.

PJ, I would have to say wife and I are pretty much happy with Medicare. Choosing the best plan for you can be a very confusing.

Buppies, hope the arm is getting better. Yesterday was 1 month since my surgery. Has not been a good month. I am counting days until I get released to start PT. 25 days to go.

RNG, best wishes for your safety and your home was spared.

Larro, best wishes that cleanup is going good.

A BIG Thank You to all our VETERANS. MY dad was in WW1. 2 brothers in Vietnam. Oldest son served in Gulf War. Thankfully they all made it home safely.

Payers for all.

Good Morning All.

It's 16° this morning with about a inch dusting of snow. Yesterday was in the low 40's and partly cloudy with a cold wind. Today is going to be in the low 30's with some clouds and less wind.

End up yesterday helping a couple of neighbors take a 12 ft truck box off of a F-550. Good thing they both had skid steers. One bought the used truck but didn't want the box. He gave the box to the other neighbor for doing most of the work of taking it off. Made for a interesting afternoon.

Not sure what the plans are for today.

RNG. I'm hoping to hear good news from you today.

CWB.

Good morning to all! Low of 45, going up to 54 around noon, then a front coming in bringing a sudden drop in temps to the 30's and snow predicted by this evening. High tomorrow is predicted to be 28....hello winter!

I'm anxiously awaiting to hear from RNG. Prayers sent his way.

Ron, I wish you well, hope the healing continues and you get well soon!

Buppies, same thoughts and wishes!

Drew, I'm not used to hearing about you "taking it easy". I bet for the short time that you stay sedentary, you will enjoy the time:D

Ed, stay warm...nice that you have backup heat. Thanks for the prayers.

Yesterday was 'errand day' .... Got a lot of them accomplished. Had to make 2 round trips into town, (about 4 hours of driving), but had my co-pilot of 35 years accompanying me. Had some great conversations during the time...no phone calls, no interruptions...nice to be able to just talk.

Tomorrow I go back for a follow up at the ortho doc....pretty sure he's going to recommend doing surgery again...knee just won't get any better.

To all the veterans out there: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!

Everyone have a great day! Prayers for all sent .

Eric, yes, passivation is good, but not sure how it will hold up to heat if it actually gets too hot....Hopefully the charcoal fire won't ruin it. Hope your grandson learns the meaning of the ceremony he is helping with. It says Peter Jackson's film will air today, I hope I get to see it soon.

Thanks and prayers to the veterans of the "good guy" countries.

Said it before, but one of my favorite WWI movies (even though it was low budget) was The Lost Battalion with Ricky Schroder.

The Lost Battalion (TV Movie 21) - IMDb

48F and cloudy here, rain later. We are plenty wet. I wish all of this rain could go to California.

RNG, my neighbor's place is still for sale. Pray your place is OK, and for the rest of the folks in front of these horrible fires. Weathermen are saying even greater winds today. Please get out of the way with your lives.

Good Morning!!!! 44F @6:45AM here in Chico. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 71F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Thanks to all the veterans out there for making our way of life possible in this country. They've made a lot of sacrifices, and it's only fitting to recognize their contributions not just today, but every day.

Hope all those aches and pains get up and go soon! Ted, probably time for a second opinion, maybe from one of those sports doctors that treat million dollar football players.

A neighbor that didn't evacuate visited the property yesterday and called to let me know everything is OK with the vehicles and house. I lost a wood pile and some shrubbery, and they made off with gasoline and propane tanks I had set out away from the house, but everything else is just fine, I feel very lucky at this point, and should be able to pretty much pick up where I left off once the evac orders are lifted. That's a HUGE relief, and now begins the wait for the roads to open again.

Those same neighbors have asked for help retrieving a car the husband left at a local school on his journey home Friday. He parked it at a roadblock, started walking up the highway, and a CalFire crew gave him a ride the rest of the way. But if they come back out, they won't be let in again. Going to be tricky getting it towed commercially, and since it's locked and I can't get a key because the owners are still beyond the evacuation road blocks. I don't want to get arrested, either. I'm hoping my bodyshop neighbor will have some ideas. I learned Friday that he'd lost his house, so he and his wife are starting with a clean slate at this point. They have a small room to live in where he works (and my BMWs are stored), so I'm trying to help him when I can as well. Lots of people working together here now.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend.

Prayers for Randy, RNG and the rest of you guys. 27 this morning, 42 now. Picked up the grocery order and sent Ellen to church without me today. Going with Ellen’s dad on a carriage drive today, hope I remember my gloves. There are about 15 units of different styles and vintage going, not my cup of tea but I figured why not. Looked at a Simplicity tractor yesterday, front end loader and three point hitch, rear only lifts about 400# but that will do me fine. I’m trying to get about a thousand dollars more off the deal, might not happen.
Have a good day all, God bless.

Can you both go to the road block, tie the key to a rock and toss it back? Or do an off road excursion around and meet up?
