Wasn't that you mentioning eating Brats and such??? :)

Maybe Prius are too quiet for the deer to hear and that's why the high incidence.

I did have a blue haired old lady in a Prius almost run over me in a grocery store parking lot one time. I didn't hear her and she didn't see me. Another foot and a half and I'd been ran over. I believe I was talking too my wife while walking to the front of the store. Aren't the cars supposed to stop or slow for pedestrians? I was so mad that if I'd had a rock, I'd have thrown it through her back window to get her attention. If I were running for president, I'd pass a law that ALL blue haired old ladies would have to have those reverse safety beepers running at all times, no matter which direction they're going. Just to give the rest of us a snowball's chance of a heads up.

Then there would be NO silence in this state

RS. Nice fish load. And I sure didn't realize that your filter setup was that extensive. Can definitely tell it's not your first rodeo.

Plants look good for such thin "soil". Are you just going to let the fish feed them or do you add water soluble?

Thanks Kyle.

Should look a little better ... once I get the background done and get it installed.

Right now just focusing on getting plants (and the fish) thriving and growing well, and propagating them.

I stuck about 10 drops of Kleen-Strip Phosphoric Acid in the tank back when I was doing the fishless cycling with ammonia ... dunno if that helped, but the plants seem to be doing well ... a good bit of new leaf and root growth.

One of the Anubias, which I divided off the original plant:

LOL ...

Well, judging by how fat all their little bellies are, they shouldn't have too many complaints ... ;)

The homemade fish food ended up being a popular item.

Just a regular ol' Perfecto 55g ... 48" long x 12" deep x around 20" (?) tall ...

I bought my Oceanic used. 36" x 18" x 20" tall outside dimensions. The glass is 1/2" thick. So my calculations make it only a 51.5 gallon.

Glad to see you online again.

One more thang, I'm not a fluid dynamicist, but my first guess if your not getting the flow you want out of your pump would be the intake filter clogging up and being the inhibitor.

I might steal some of your pump ideology if I ever redo mine.

He tried to scam me - Or - do I look like a Doctor, I'd go with the first.

I was in a coffee shop in Austin this afternoon with my wife, a very friendly large black man in kaki clothes came up to the table and introduced himself and ask if I remember him from work that he used to clean the office. I did not, but he did look like someone I arrested so I was scanning my memory and started focusing on one case. I soon realized he was not providing enough information to jar my memory, then he started talking about being in town for his daughter funeral I did not let him off topic of how I might know him. My wife asks where he lived and she was fast on her smartphone while I questioned him at which office of mine he cleaned. When he said South I asked which South office he said SW -too vague- I asked him directly what did he think I did for a living, he said a DR. (Wrong guess.) I said you have me confused with someone else and he quickly dismissed himself, meanwhile my wife verified his street name was not in the town where he said he lived.

Us old folk have to be on our toes all the time.

One thing that was a give away, I noticed he never told me information about myself or work type or location. He just gave info about himself.

Scammers. Arghh. Did he have a carribean or Nigerian accent?

46 high of 63 later raining now heavy stuff comes in later. These warm temperatures will be a memory soon and the cold will stay with us until March I'm afraid. Someone towards the end of the month is going to get a lot of snow and New England will get in on the action this time probably in the next ten days or so for them. Eastern NC may see snow this weekend as well as the coast of Virginia

48 going all the way up to low 70s today with rain coming in later afternoon and heavy rain predicted for two days, almost three inches now.
Gosh, that would be 21 inches of snow Roy! And then this weekend more rain, though Buppies is doing his best to scare us poor coastal warm bloods...
Although my right arm isn't working too well this morning, very glad to get that water culvert done. And the gutters on the shed and barn, all good timing.

off to get a haircut this morning, overdue, and with my beard mostly in I need a descruffing. I look a lot older with a white beard coming in, but it sure keeps me warmer in the winter. Usually sometime in March I shave it off.

RS, great fish pics. How aggressive are your fish? any problems with cannibals?

Gosh, that would be 21 inches of snow Roy!

Just a light dusting...the "real" Vermonters don't even engage the 4WD until it's 10-12 inches...

I'm hoping the rest of the winter is as mild as it has been so far. I sold my snow blower (which I'd written about previously) 5 or 6 weeks ago since the manual rotation doesn't work well with a cabbed tractor...plus, the Power Beyond hoses (for the back hoe) prevent full rotation of the chute crank. I'll pick up a snow blower with hydraulics in a few months...got a tax bill (you know Vermont loves taxing the peasants) to pay first as well as replacing our refrigerator.

Good morning. Was out on the road last night when the rain changed to snow and for just a couple of heartbeats, the tires decided they were going in a direction that wasn't quite the same as the one I was steering. It must be winter after all, although that definition wouldn't count in Vermont.

We lost our internet again yesterday. This time it wasn't our phone line. Internet service providers here had a major country wide failure and things are still not back to normal.

Thanks for all the well wishes. My wifey made me some good old Quaker oatmeal. I love that stuff. I've always been a sucker for breakfast carbs. Cream of Wheat, Malto Meal, Bisquik pancakes, waffles or biscuits. Anyone else?

I just wish my headache and gut ache would subside.

Kyle, getting to the stage of being able to think and talk about food is generally a good sign that you are "on the mend".

Quaker oats are one of my favourites for winter breakfast. It's one of those foods that brings back fond memories of childhood too. My Aunty Gladys ran a guest house in a seaside resort and she made it very creamy. It must have been piping hot when put into the bowl, although it had always gone cold by the time I got mine. When she wasn't looking, the game was to see how far from the horizontal the bowl could be tipped before the porridge started to peel away from the side of the bowl.

To this day I actually prefer to let it go almost cold before eating.
